 『ダニー・ケイの天国と地獄』『虹をつかむ男』『五つの銅貨』などで知られる名コメディアンが、81年9月に指揮を務めたニューヨークフィルの公演を収めた作品。アメリカのコメディアン、ダニー・ケイが、このオーケストラの音楽監督も務める名指揮者ズービン・メータの形態模写をはじめ、愉快なジョークをふんだんに盛り込みながら『どろぼうかささぎ』、『クルミ割り人形』などクラシックの名曲20曲を演奏。
 『熊蜂は飛ぶ』では、指揮棒をハエたたきに持ち替え、見事にオーケストラの指揮を執っている。彼が指揮法どころか楽譜も読めないとは信じがたい。観客、演奏者、そしてダニー・ケイが心から楽しんでいるのがよくわかる。（大石みちひろ）

以前にこのビデオはレーザーディスクで見たことがありますが、
本当に、本当に音楽の楽しさを直接的に、わかりやすく、誰にでも
伝えられるすばらしいイベントだと思います。

品切れが続いているようですが、是非！再販してください。
お願いします！入ったらすぐ買います。
でも確かに、ＤＶＤ版があったらメチャ欲しいですね。

中学のとき、音楽の授業で見てからあの演奏会が忘れられません･･･。コンマスだけでなく、次々と他の演奏者にも握手を求めていったり，指揮棒をたくさん持ってきて、どれにしようか迷ったり、そんな姿が今でも脳裏に浮かびます。ぜひもう一度見たい!!絶対再販してくださいね☆

クラシックをやっているひと、クラシックの演奏会がすきなひとには
なおさら面白いはず。こんな演奏会が実際にあればいいのになあ
と思います。
