新居昭乃の5枚目のオリジナルアルバムで、何と「At Eden」のセルフカバー以外シングルは全く入れず、全曲が新曲だという意欲作になりました。ライブで演奏してきて段々形になった曲もあり、一度だけ演奏したら戸惑って今回のレコーディングまでに蔵入りした曲もあって、それに反して迷わずに何度もライブでパワーフルに歌ってきた曲もあります。前作の「エデン」からは4年間の歳月が経て、その間少しずつ出来た曲は今回全部使ってアルバムにする事になりました。

「エデン」は911テロ事故の後にすぐ出来たアルバムで、それに影響されて詩の内容ははっきり言って消極的なものが多かったと曰く彼女だが、今作は人間の未来や生き様などを語っているより明るいものが入っていて、前作とは対照的でまるで影と光のようである。

サウンドの面では彼女は長く付き合った保刈久明をサウンドプロデューサに迎えたからいつもの昭乃サウンドからはあまり遠く離れていないが、今回はバンドサウンドを取り入れてみたのでこの「ソラノスフィア」は彼女のハーデストアルバムと言って良いでしょう。例えば1曲目の「Haleakala」のギターリッフは今までの彼女の唄になかったものとか、アルバム全体を通してベースもかなりエージだとか。
でも何と言っても「Lhasa」が一番神秘的でとても不思議な曲になりました。彼女は「出来上がったまでは凄く不思議な経緯だった」と言いましたが、今回は二胡やブズーキで民族的なサウンドに差し上げたが、まるでチベットの気配が曲に宿っている様に初めて聞いた時は余りのスピリチュアリティに鳥肌になってしまいました。

ちなみにびっくりするぐらいな事に、このアルバムは4/29付のオリコンデイリーチャートに何と11位にランクインして、彼女がデビューして以来最高のチャートランクに違いないだろう。(おめでとう、新居さん!)

今までのアルバムは物語みたいでしたが、今回は空間的音楽という感じです。
昭乃さんのアルバムはどれも素晴らしいですが、一番まとまりのある力強いアルバムだと感じました。
本人も言ってたように、迷いがなく、作りたいものが明確になったという感じです。
聴いていると、本当にきらきらした空にいるような世界感で、
それがジャケットやブックレットにも表れています。
紙のざらざらした質感や絵が曲ととても合っていて、アルバム全体がとても美しいです。
CDが入っているところにも絵が描かれていて、写真と絵のコラボレーションがとても印象的です。
音がとてもきれいで、ずっと流しっぱなしにしています。
特にオススメな曲は「鏡の国」と「Monday,tuesday」、「Lhasa」です。
アンビエントな曲調に癒されます。

購入してから一ヶ月間毎日聴いていますが、毎度癒されます。
透明感、空気感、アレンジのクォリティも素晴らしいです。
1曲１曲の世界観も個性的で飽きることがありません。
最高のアルバムです。
