この価格帯には珍しく、チューニングはシンセサイザー（デジタル）方式。好みもあるかもしれないが、周波数をプリセットできるのはやはり便利（AMは10局、FMは5局プリセット可）。

サイズと重量からしてこのラジオを外に持ち出す人は少ないと思うが、携帯用という前提のためか、電源は電池（単3×2本）のみで、残念ながら商用電源は使えず、長時間継続使用時は不経済となる。
ストラップは少々邪魔に感じるが、取り外せない構造になっている。

小さなスピーカーからの音は、ハイファイとは言えないものの、ICF-SW23よりは実用的であり、トーク番組は歯切れのいい音で聴かせる。よって、ベッドサイドや書斎で静かに鳴らすラジオとしてお勧めできる。

感度や選択度というラジオ本来の性能は、近隣の放送局が対象なら申し分ない。
同じ価格帯のICF-S65Vと比較すると、AMの感度は同等、FMの感度は本機のほうが上である。
「Made In China」となっているが、ソニーらしいデザインで、見た目の質感も悪くない。

多少コストアップになっても、外部電源ジャックを備え、かつ一回り大きな筐体（スピーカー）でゆったりとした音となれば、理想的かもしれない。

ハイエンドICF-SW7600GRも使っていますが、お気軽に寝床ラジオはこのICF-M260を使っています、この価格でPLLシンセサイザーは立派、プリセットすれば夜中の寝床でも十分使える、６０分スリープタイマーもありがたい、夜ともなれば関東から九州、関西、東北、北海道と意外な遠距離受信が出来たりして楽しいです、音が良いのもお勧めです。

ネットで検索したらかなりの高評価なので購入しました。この金額でプリセット選局
ＡＭバンド５ｘ２で１０個。ＦＶ/ＴＶバンド５個登録できます。受信感度も良好で
他社なら１万は行く性能がこの金額と、他社の追随を許さない製品になっています。
父の誕生日に一台プレゼントして喜ばれました。
