PS2が発売して約7年。PS2はメモリーカードが必須。発売当時から8MBですが、PS2ソフトの記憶容量がKBの物も多いので、妥当な価格だと思います。普通は1つあれば十分です。
様々なメモリーカードがでていますが、高級感では一番だと思います。その分価格は高めですが。
私も5年間使っていますが、一度もデータが消えたことがありません。データが消えそうな原因としては、
他社製のメモリーカードによくついているケースが付属していないため、ほこりや湿気、静電気に注意する。この種類のメモリーカードは静電気に弱いそうです。
PS2ソフトの中には、メモリーカード内のデータを破壊するソフトが存在する。それは調べていただければ分かりますので、そのソフトに注意する。
ちなみに、PSのソフトのセーブデータをPS2のメモリーカードに書き込みすることはできないが、PSのセーブデータをPSのメモリーカードを経由してPS2のメモリーカードにコピーすることは可能。PSのメモリーデータはとても小さいので、PS2のメモリーカードに何百ものデータの保存ができる。PSのメモリーカードを複数持ってい る人は、全てPS2のメモリーカードにコピーしておき、読み込むときだけPSのメモリーカードを使用すればよいので、かさばらずにすっきりする。
それと、PS2にはコピー禁止データというデータが存在している。これは、PS3のメモリーカードアダプターではコピー可能。

白がカッコよかったので、本体と同時に購入しましたが、購入後に「メモリーカード(8MB)セラミック・ホワイト/ブラック」を発見。メモリーカードの使い分けも考えていたので、そちらの方がお買い得だったなぁと少し後悔・・・

PS2のメモリーカードは消耗品だと思います
長く使っていけば大切に使っていても、当然壊れたりもします
大事なデータが消えないように、バックアップ用に持っているのも良いと思います

しかし、値段が少々高いと思いました
PS3も発売されたことですし、値段をもう少し落として欲しいです
