今日マチ子/(きょう・まちこ)
漫画家、イラストレーター。1980年8月20日生まれ、東京都出身。女子学院中学高校を経て東京芸術大学美術学部卒。セツ・モードセミナー卒。 2000~2004年 ミニコミ『Juicy Fruits』を発行し注目を集める。2005年「ほぼ日マンガ大賞」入賞、2006年、2007年文化庁メディア芸術祭「審査委員会推薦作品」を2年連続で受賞。無類の猫好き。

文化庁メディア芸術祭にて展示されており、はじめてその存在を知った。

ブログに毎日綴られ、現在も続いている漫画というか俳句に近い絵物語。
漫画誌で連載していない無名の新人ながら淡々と描き続ける力、言葉にならない絶妙な瞬間をすくいとる表現力は類をみない。たまにシュールでわかりにくいものもあるが、読者への問いかけであり成長中の証なのだろう。コマ運び、言葉遣いなどはすでに独特のリズムを習得しているようだ。ライブ感のあるオンラインと比べ、書籍化された本作では、より丁寧に作品世界を楽しむことができた。帯に言葉を寄せた森見登美彦氏は、自らの日記で

『どきどきするところもあれば、
ハッとするところもあり、
可愛いところもあれば、
美しいところもあり、
ヘンテコなところもあり、
分かるようで分からないところもある。
オモシロイのである。』

と紹介。
すでにネット上ではファンが散見されるが、しっかりとプロの目から評価されることを願う。


ブレイク後には全編フルカラーの続編に期待。

記憶や風景、ちょっとした感触を、風が吹き抜けるようなタッチで描いています。
マンガというより、俳句や、絵画のようにじんわりと味わいたい一冊。
（1Pマンガというスタイルは、ブログ発の漫画だからなんですねー）
日常のなかで、どうにも心にひっかかってはなれないささいなことを、
延々とリフレインしていくような感覚です。

かわいい絵柄でとっつきやすいと思います。
恋のトキメキや喜びなど、美しいものばかりで構成されています。
しかしながら、何度か読み込んでいくうちに、
死や性の暗喩が現れてきます。
普通のマンガの読み方は通用しない本。

純粋さと残酷さ、生と死の境目にただよう、キラキラした粒子のような世界。
思春期、悶々ともがいていた人におすすめです。

懐かしい日々の青くささ、むずがゆくもピュアな感情、
そうした大切な想い出たちを、想い出させてくれる。
もう一度、中学/高校時代に戻りたくなってしまいます。
百合の花のおしべを切る少女など、
非常に気の利いた、工夫されたアイデア、ユーモアに満ちており
単なる雰囲気だけのやわな少女漫画にとどまらぬ、
老若男女が楽しめる秀作だと思います。
書き込まれてこそいないものの、その画力も相当のもの。
