緻密な選手データと、リアルなペナントレース展開が楽しめる「戦略プロ野球」シリーズの2006年版。セ・パ交流戦や、パ・リーグのプレーオフなどにも対応しており、日本のプロ野球を完全にシミュレートすることができる。12球団に所属しているすべての選手約800名を実名で収録するほか、2006年に改修された、「福岡Yahoo!JAPANドーム」と「千葉マリンスタジアム」の各フィールドシートの追加や、「フルキャストスタジアム宮城」の外野席の増設、「ナゴヤドーム」と「スカイマークスタジアム」の芝目の変更など、各球場の構造を可能な限り忠実に表現している。また、巨人とヤクルトの新ユニフォームや、阪神と楽天の交流戦用ユニフォームについても収録。ゲームモードには、これまでの「公式戦」、「インターネット対戦」、「オープン戦」、「日本シリーズ」、「チーム編集」に加え、プレイヤーがGM(ゼネラルマネージャ)となりチームの運営をプレイできる「GMモード」、「6球団/12球団トーナメント」、「プレーオフ」、「戦プロクイズ」の4つの新モードを追加。チーム編集モードには、既存の球団選手や他のオリジナルチームからの選手を加えることができる「アレンジ」機能を搭載している。また、「監督方針」のバリエーションを増やし、打順構築の項目に「打率」や「本塁打数」などを追加したことで、より細かい戦略を組み立てることができるようになり、プレイヤーが設定した「監督方針」を保管することも可能に。そのほか、最新の選手データの配信、オリジナルチームの募集&掲載、インターネット対戦機能など、「インターネット」をフルに活用した、パソコンならではの面白さと楽しさが広がるサービスも充実。約170曲のBGMを収録。操作性も大幅に向上している。
