素晴らしいalbum。イギリスのbandらしい豊かなメロディ、安定したperformance。Francis Dunneryの突出したギタープレイはないけど、逆にbandとして１つにまとまった感じもする。さあ、２０年ぶりの再来日を期待しましょう！

約20年前、抜群のメロディセンスと、英国人独特のひねくれ歌詞で、一部のファンの間で人気が高かったが、好ルックスが邪魔して(?!)残念なバンドだったIB。その彼等が今ここに新しい息吹を上げながら見事復活を成し遂げた! すでに名曲と呼んでも憚らないタイトルTr.5や、聴く者のモチベーションをあげてあげて最後に落とす大作、Tr.11等、全曲素晴らしい。そしてブックレット内の写真も音楽性に溶け込んでいる。早くライブも見てみたいバンドである。

はっきり言って、私はフランシス・ダナリー信奉者です。再結成のニュースを聞き、彼のいないIT BITESなんて...と思っておりました。
しかし、皆さんのレヴューや「BURRN!」誌等の高評価につられ、クリックしてしまいました。

まず、購入を検討されている方々に忠告するわけではありませんが、「Once Around The World」・「Eat Me In St.Louis」は超えていません。当たり前です。ハードル高過ぎです。

新加入のジョン・ミッチェルは、昔IT BITESの影響を受けたそうです。しかし、歌について（ギタープレイもそうですが）フランシスのイメージが強い私は、「IT BITES」としての本作品は、違和感を禁じえません。でも仕方ないことかもしれません。フランシスのヴォーカルは上手い下手というレベルを超越して、芸術の域でしたから（なので、ジョン・ミッチェルがダメという意味では決してありません）。

それでも、溢れる才能が年を重ねるうちに枯渇し、フェードアウトしていくアーティストが多い中、20年経った今日にこれだけクオリティーの高い作品を作り上げたメンバー（特にジョン・ベック！）には敬意を表します。

「Once Around The World」が星10個級なので、本当は満点の星5個くらいあげたいところですが、冷静に4個とさせていただきます。

さて、問題はこのクオリティーを今後も維持できるか。
オリジナルメンバー4人での新作が聴きたいなんて、決して言いません！…あっ、言っちゃった…複雑。
