“TSAロックとは”
2003年1月より爆発物検査のために、TSA(アメリカ運輸保安局)は、アメリカへの出入国とアメリカ国内のフライトの際に厳しい荷物検査を行っています。
TSAはＸ線などの検査で不審物が入っていると思われる鞄を開けて検査をしているため、旅客は開錠して荷物を預けなければなりません。
もし、施錠をして預けた場合は鍵を切断または壊されてしまう可能性があるので、せっかくの楽しい旅行も台無しとなってしまいます。
TSA認可のロックを使用している鞄は、TSA職員が特殊ツールを使って開錠して検査し、検査後は施錠して戻しますので、鍵をかけたまま航空会社に預けることができます。

　飛行機でアメリカに入国する際，預けた手荷物にTSAロック以外のタイプの鍵で施錠してあると，検査官に鍵が壊されてしまっても文句が言えません。しかし，TSAロックであれば，施錠していても検査官が専用工具で開けることができ，検査後に施錠してもらえます。もしお手持ちのスーツケースやキャリーバッグ等がTSAロックのついていないタイプで，かつ南京錠を取り付けることのできるものであったら，この鍵を利用することをおすすめします。

　暗証番号は３ケタで，自分で好きな番号に変更することができます。専用の鍵であけるタイプのTSA南京錠もありますが，旅先で鍵をなくすと開錠できなくなってしまうので，この暗証番号タイプの方が個人的には良いと思っています。本当は４ケタくらい欲しいところではありますが，手頃な値段ですしなかなか良い商品だと思います。

アメリカ方面へご旅行される方は、スーツケース（キャリーバック）にTSAロックを使用することをお勧めします。従来のスーツケースだと鍵は開いている状態でのチェックインとなりますので、この商品のようにTSA公認のロック付きがたいへん重宝します。ただ、最近TSA公認のロック付きスーツケースを購入もしくは購入予定でしたら、あえてこの様なロックは必要ないが、ダブルロックで用心に越したことはないかも。それより、最近航空会社によっては超過荷物を厳しく制限していますので、なるべく軽量のスーツケースをお選びになることも重ねてご検討ください。

TSAロックつきのコンビネーションロックです。
手荷物を預ける場合、鍵をかけていると、アメリカでは検査のため、壊されても文句が言えません。
このTSAロックがついていると、係官だけが持っている特別のキーで鍵を壊さずに検査を受けられます。
鍵の作りとしては、3桁のダイヤル式で、これは自分で番号を設定できます。
底に、TSA用の鍵穴があいていて、ここに係官がキーを差し込んであけることになります。
使い勝手としては、通常のダイヤル錠ですが、ダイヤルを設定できる機能のせいか、時々ロックが引っかかったように押し込みにくくなることがあります。
これは、他のダイヤル錠でも経験したことがあるので、機構上しょうがないのかもしれません。
その気になれば、簡単に切られてしまうでしょうが、一応ファスナーがすぐに開かないようにしておくと、荷物を預けるのに少しは安心感が増します。
これまでは、ファスナーでふたをするようなソフトケースの場合、手荷物検査が厳しくなってから、鍵のかけようがなかったので、こういった製品の意義は大きいと思います。
