とにかく登場人物の魅力が描写できていないです。
特に主人公はあまりにも魅力がなく、「愛」を描く上で一番の障害になっている気がします。
作者はこの主人公を「背が高くてスポーツマンで甘いマスクで賢い」と表現していますが、そんな風に書いたからってキャラクターの魅力が描けるわけではありません。
私から見れば単に欲に溺れ婚約者を裏切りながら、ばれることで「自分の立場」が台無しになること恐れて、婚約者にも浮気相手にもせこい嘘を繰り返す小モノにしか見えません。
作者は主人公、妻、浮気相手それぞれを「賢い」と設定（「賢い」と地の文に書くことで）してるのですが、行動や台詞からは最後まで真逆の印象しか持てませんでした。
浮気相手の描写も「黒い長い髪」とか「切れ長の目」とか「肌が白い」とか「服の脱ぎ方がセクシー」とかうわっつらのステレオタイプな描写ばかりで魅力的に思えませんし、エロティシズムもありません。
その漂う色香を言葉にしてみせるのが小説家でしょう。
表現の域に達していない「説明」的文章も多く、さらに妻の台詞が特にそうなのですが、しゃべってるはずの言葉まで説明的でとても生きてる人間がしゃべってると思えません。
キャラクター３人とも「愛されるような魅力」が感じられないことと、文章、表現の稚拙さがあいまって作者という存在がスケスケに透けて見え、全てが嘘っぽく、小説世界に入り込めません。
もっと「魅力的な心」を描かかないことには小説にならなと思います。

ちょっと気になってた女の子が「ものすごくいいから！」って薦めてくれたもんで読んだんですけど、この本が大のお気に入りって時点でもうダメですね。だってどう考えても強欲な上に優柔不断な男の都合の良い妄想話じゃないですかコレ。

こんな薄っぺらい「悲恋話」で、それなりの数の女性たちが「純愛」だの「運命の出会い」だの大騒ぎしていることに驚きました。登場人物の描写もテレビドラマ並みのいい加減さ。あ、でもこの程度のヌルさが「良い加減」なんですかね世間一般的には。

本屋でオススメのコーナーにあって、辻さんの作品は読んだことがなかったので買ってみました。

正直、主人公の行動や考え方にはとても共感できなかったし、舞台になっているタイや人物の描写などもとくに
はっとするところもありませんでした。

自分の出世欲のためにあきらめたもの（女性）への欲張り心や、性欲を純愛と勘違いしてるだけで、
今自分の周りにある幸せに対して鈍感で感謝ができない愚かな人の話しにしか思えませんでした。

しかも婚約者と結婚するぎりぎりまでその火遊びを楽しんで捨てた女性を「愛していた」と言い切ってしまうずうずうしさが醜い。

途中で読むのをよっぽどやめようかと思いました。

辻さんの「あとがき」を読んでさらにドン引きです。ものすごいナルシストだという印象を受けました。
