5.0 out of 5 stars 知ってるようで知らなかった、サザエさんの世界, 2004/8/19
今まで知らなかったが、朝日新聞で連載が始まった当初は、サザエさんは独身で、自分の両親（波平＆フネ）のことを「パパ」「ママ」と読んでいる（フネさんからは「（カツヲやワカメの）ねーちゃん」と呼ばれている）。こんなのは、以前流行った「磯の家の謎」で既に世間にはお馴染みなのだろうか。

時代は終戦直後。話の中に、配給や引き揚げ者や戦災孤児のことがたくさん出てくる。パーマを当てるのは、髪を黒焦げにする危険と隣り合わせだった時代だ。P20の「サエキ」という地名はどこか（サザエさんが眉をひそめていた）、P98のためになるらしい「メチール」とは薬か何かなのか、今となっては訳注が欲しいところ。後半、波平の転勤で家族で東京に移ることになり、実は始めは九州に住んでいたことがわかった。

昭和21年4月から昭和22年2月に新聞に掲載されていたもの、サザエさんは独身でイカコさんという親友がいて、生まれは地方で東京育ちでないこともわかる。この漫画はその時折の時事を大いに反映しているから昭和の生活史を知る資料にもなる。引揚げ、食料配給、闇市、買出し、男女同権、メチール（メタノールのこと、密造酒の原料だが、飲むと眼をやられるので目散る＝メチルと呼ばれた）、今では死語となった言葉の集積である。
向田邦子の文章で、サザエサンの漫画で、昭和を垣間見る事ができる。
歴史は繰り返される。昨今の暗いご時世、こんな時代にこそ明るく生き抜く知恵がここでみつけられるのではないか？全45巻、続けて読んでいきたいものである。

時代とともにギャグのセンスは変わるし、昔笑えた漫画が今笑えないということはよくあります。
でも、笑いの中には普遍的なものもあるんだなと、サザエさんを読んでみて実感しました。
子供の頃にも読んで大笑いをした記憶がありますが、時間を経て、今から６０年も昔の日本が舞台であったとしても、長谷川町子さんのセンスはそんなのお構いなしに読み手のツボを刺激してきます。
それにしても戦後の動乱期にこんな漫画を生み出せるこの才能・・・・脱帽です。
ところどころに「ああ、そういえばこれって戦後すぐの日本なんだった」と思い起こさせるシーンがあって、逆にドキッとします。
戦後の暗い印象しかない日本にとってのサザエさんの重要さが痛感できました。
