ルルーシュは北米大陸を本土とする神聖ブリタニア帝国の皇子であったが、母の暗殺後、真相も明らかにされぬまま、妹のナナリーとともに人質同然の扱いで日本に送られた。その後、ブリタニアと日本は戦争になり、無条件降伏した日本は植民地となった。日本は「エリア11」に改名され、日本人は「イレヴン」と差別され、旅行や携帯電話の所持さえ禁止された。
ブリタニアを憎むルルーシュは、ギアスという超能力を手に入れることで、母親の死の真相を明らかにし、ナナリーが平和に暮らせる世界にするためにブリタニアと戦うことを決意する。ルルーシュは巧みな統率力と戦術で日本人の抵抗組織を糾合し、そのリーダー「ゼロ」になる。抵抗組織のリーダーが敵国の皇子という設定は、良くも悪くも外圧がなければ何一つ変わることができない現実の日本社会への皮肉に見えて興味深い。

物語を別の視点で見るというのは、デジタル映像の特質を生かした発想。
デジタルであれば、カメラアングルまで視点を変えることに意味があるような気がする。
ファンなら一度は見たいと思うので、レンタルで借りて内容を確かめたい。

個人的には、アニメは英語版が出てから購入するようにしています。
英語版の方が、同じ映像を安価で購入できることがあるからです。
