派手な戦闘シーンも無く、エイリアンや巨大な宇宙船が出てくるでもなし....（巨大な設備は出てくる）。　ハリウッド映画得意のCGいっぱい超大作を見慣れた人にはよく「つまんないよ」と言われます。
でも、大好きなんですこの映画。　遠い宇宙の彼方で、遙か昔の地球の音が聴きこえてきて、太陽系に入り、地球に近づき....　このオープニングのシーンから引き込まれました。　これは「未知との遭遇」とも「スタートレック･ファーストコンタクト」とも違う、ミステリックで夢があるファーストコンタクト。　故カール･セーガンの宇宙への想いが詰まった映画です。

待ちに待った『コンタクト』のブルーレイ。早速視聴しました。
結論を先に言いますと、「買って大正解」でした！！

ジョディフォスターの主演作はあまり画質の良くない作品が多く、以前発売されたBD版『フライトプラン』や『羊たちの沈黙』の大不評もあり、正直言って二度あることは三度ありかと不安視していたのですが、取り越し苦労でした。十二分な精密描写と自然な肌色の美しさは本当に素晴らしいものがあります。その描写力は、今までは気がつかなかったジョディフォスターの顔の僅かなソバカスさえも映し出しているほど。
昨今のグレインまみれのザラザラ、カリカリ画面とは違い（私は個人的には嫌いです！）、ノイズ感のない滑らかな質感は何とも気持ちがいいものですね。ただ、暗部が少し潰れ気味になる箇所はあるようですが、１０年以上前の作品であることを考えるとやむを得ないのかなと思います。

何年か前にNHKのBS-Hiで放映された時は、若干甘さのある映像でしたが、今回のディスクは完全に放送の画質を超えています。当たり外れの大きいワーナーのブルーレイですが、今度ばかりは大丈夫でした（笑）。
お勧めです。

公開当時は、意外と話題にはなりませんでしたが、ＳＦとしても、ドラマとしても秀作です。色々語ってもこの映画を見たほうがいいので語りませんが、もし、あなたが娘さんがいる親であれば、ご一緒に見ることをお勧めします。

もちろん娘さんに限りませんが。（＾＾）

でも、唯一、やっぱり日本の描写がおかしい点があるのも事実。そこは笑ってなかったことにしてあげてください。
