高橋悠治氏による、ケージのプリペアドピアノ曲の美しい演奏。

口ずさめるような明確なメロディがあるわけではない。不協和音とプリペアドピアノゆえに一貫しない音質、といったこの不安定な音楽は、しかし川のせせらぎや、森の中で聞こえる葉ずれの音などのような自然の騒音に似て、優しくアンビエントな感触。

音と音の、間の取り方が絶妙で、静寂にすら存在感を感じさせる、何やら凄い演奏です。

解説によると、インド哲学の概念である、安定への指向を伴った”不変の感情”を表現しているとか。そのせいだろうか、聴く人によっては不気味に感じるかもしれないこの音楽に、とても大きな安らぎを感じます。

最近、眠る前に必ずかけてしまう一枚。

現代音楽の聖典とも言えるアルバムです。
ポリーニのブーレーズのソナタと比較するのも面白いかもしれません。
構造でもなく、主観でもなく、一体この音楽が伝えるものは何なのか？
偶然性？多くの人はそう語るでしょう。確かに、

上記の発言を撤回します。｢聖典」とか「構造」とか「偶然性」とか一切関係ありません。
多分ケージともさして関係ありません。
高橋悠治のお遊戯と指の運動です。
何故ピアノを使ってこんな楽しみ方をするのか、偶然性とかそんな間抜けな事より、そっちの方を考えた方がまだマシでしょう。
