若葉の夢を「正夢」にするためのラストチャンス、コウたち三年生最後の甲子園行きをかけた戦い、北東京大会決勝。
青秀迎え撃つのは、前回覇者の竜旺だ。

あだち充はなぜ、高校野球だけを描き続けるのだろうか。
野球といえばプロ野球だってあるし、今じゃ海外の野球というのもなんら夢物語ではなくなりつつある。「ネタもと」は豊富になったはずなのになぜ、未だに高校生だけなのだろうか。

それはおそらく、高校球児のその有限性にこそ、彼が魅力を感じているからだと、僕は思う。
お金のためでもない。名誉のためでもない。誰よりも速く投げ、誰よりも強く打ち返したいという熱意。そしてそれをあの子に見ててほしいというほんちょっとの下心。そんなイノセンスを際立たせるのが、永久に続くかのように思える惰性的な日常ではなく、わずか3年、試合にすると100試合も満たない間しか見ることのできないというそのはかなさであり、それらが渾然一体となって彼の心をくすぐりそれをマンガにしたいと思わせ、描かれたマンガに僕らは熱狂できるのではないだろうか。

四番が打って、エースが抑える。
あだち充の描く“かっちょいい甲子園”が続く第16巻。

世間にはいろいろな野球漫画がありますが、
あだち充の描く作品はストーリーや演出もさることながら、
やはり絵が際立って上手なところが私の中では大きなポイントです。

シンプルで派手さはありませんが、写真をそのまま
切り抜いてきたようなキレイな絵は十分に迫力があり、
毎回うっとりさせられます（なのでアニメには残念な気持ちが…）。
16巻では東にシビレれました。

もちろん話の行方も気になって、何年ぶりだろう、
サンデーを楽しみに待つ羽目になってしまいました。
連載再開うれしいです！
