　８１年発表の２nd。アイアン・メイデンの中で一番最初に聴いて、一番好きなアルバム。１stの頃のパンキッシュな音が若干抑えられて、よりヘヴィメタリックな音になり、アイアン・メイデンの中でNWOBHMらしさが残る最後のアルバムだと思う。１stと２ndの荒削りで、危なくて、ダークな感じがたまりません。確かにポールよりブルースの方がうまいし、ドラムもクライヴよりニコの方がうまいと思うけど、なんかうますぎてつまんないんだよね。（次作の”THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST”もいいけど、１st、２nd聴いた後に聴くとなんか物足りなく思ってしまうのは俺だけ？！）この初期のカッコよさってポール・ディアノによる功績が大きいと思う。全曲名曲です！

IRON MAIDENの2ndアルバム。
前作に引き続いて、デビュー前からライブでよく演奏されていた曲が収録されているため、前作と同じような音楽性ですが、これも傑作アルバムですね。
かっこいい曲が揃っており、個人的には『Wrathchild』『Murders In The Rue Morgue』『Killers』『Purgatory』『Drifter』が好きですが、このアルバムもまた前作同様捨て曲なしです。
IRON MAIDEN初心者の方には、1stアルバム『鋼鉄の処女』とこの2ndアルバム『KILLERS』をお勧めします。

彼等独特の勇壮かつ起伏の激しい曲構成が完成されたのはブルース・ディッキンソンが加入して作られた次作の【THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST】なんでしょうが、ポール・ディアノの最後の作品となった本作では、メタルのハードコア解釈とも表現できるような初期騒動にまみれたドライブ感がたまりません。

パンクスのようなルックスのポール・ディアノの荒々しいシャウトも、そのクールな世界観の演出に大きく寄与しています。
ミュージシャン（特にパンク・ハードコア系の）に彼のヴォーカルやルックスがフェイバリットだ、という人が多いのも分かるようなクールネスです。
スティーブ・ハリスの独特なベースラインもこの頃から完成されています。

個人的には勇壮なメドレーの1~2（1は確かARCH ENEMYがカヴァーしていました）や代表曲の3、インストの5なんかも好きですが、それら以上に79のようなドライブ感満点の曲に痺れてしまいます。
間違いなく、ブリティッシュメタルを代表する一枚です。
