I would not recommend this printer to anyone.
Those using Mac, meet you worst enemy. The specs for this printer are not bad at all, but the drivers, on the other hand...
The drivers are horrendous. Proprietary CAPT drivers will ignore the Mac OS standard printing procedure. (results in such annoyances as: 3 different places to setup the paper size, etc). Moreover, the interface for the printing is one of the worst examples of interface design you will meet. Usability: 0, Intuitiveness: 0. The Eighties are getting trendy again and what a true blast from the past this driver's interface is. I can swear I'm back to '85! Indecipherable 16 color bitmaps, mysterious animations and even a completely wrong icon for the printer itself (older model, of course!)
It will persistently annoy you to go and buy some more of overpriced Canon toner cartridges, based on the number of prints done, not the actual amount of toner powder left in the cartridge. And it does that for every single print job from a certain number of prints on.
One of the many things they don't tell you is that you can not share this printer.
Hey, let's just get rid of this thing and forget that it ever happened, you say? Well, as you will soon see for yourself, even with the drivers 'uninstalled', the BackGrounder service stays active in the system background endlessly trying to start itself and failing at it. You can easily see that in your system logs.
Ok, let's contact the support, then. The naivety... My experience with the Canon 'support' is 'a cruel joke'. They will literally count down the number of characters you enter when submitting a complaint...
If you ask me, save yourself some money and stay away from this thing.
