スキャナを使うのは初めての上にメカオンチで不安だったのですが、説明書通りに使えば特に複雑な操作もありませんので問題無しです。
一旦付属ソフトを取り込んでしまえば、本体のイージーボタンを押すだけで「印刷」「写真」「PDF」「メール添付」操作を簡単に行えます。詳しい設定も手間取らずに変更可。出力解像度を（種類によりますが）75〜400に変え、写真や原稿の美しさもある程度コントロールでき、マルチスキャンで写真やメモを複数枚同時取り込み可能です。

仕事で必要な原稿を画像コミで連続して直接PDF保存できるので、重宝しています。
今までずっとコンビニか仕事場でコピーをしていたのですが、とても楽になりました。
すっきりした薄型で縦置きできるので、場所も取りません。但し使用時は横置きの方が断然良いです。また、本体裏に原稿読み取りユニットのロック機能があるので、長期間使用しない時にかけています。

さほど細かい高機能を必要としない、もしくはスキャナを買おうか迷っている方は、買って損しないと思います。

3.0 out of 5 stars とにかく省スペース派の人向け, 2008/1/9
性能は、、、って言ってしまうと、ちょっと微妙。
カラーが全体的に淡目に出ている気がする。
文章用とだけなら十分すぎる性能だと思える。

以前使っていたエプソンの複合機から、キャノンのプリンタとスキャナの単品に乗り換えなのですが、
ソフトが重たく、動作音も結構うるさいと思います。
あと、Vistaをスリープ状態から復帰させたら、認識してくれないこともしばしば

立てて設置もできますが、スキャンしてみたら、上から均等に圧がかかっていなくて、
半分浮いた状態でスキャンしてしまい、手で押さえないと、画質に難ありと感じました。

ただ、USBバスパワーだし、とにかく小さくて不必要な部分なほとんど無いし、
省スペースにおきたいと言うことならうってつけだと思います。

と上に出ている様に、主に紙に描いた線画をメインにととりこんでいます。
Phtoshopから取り込んでいますが、以前持っていたEPSONの光学式より
薄く、軽く、立てて使うことが出来ます。取り込み時には立てて使うのは
無理ではないのですが、紙がズレ落ちるのでスキャナを使っていない時の
置き方にしています。（付属で立てて使うアタッチメント？が付いてます。）

スキャナの音とといっても連続で取り込む訳ではないので、気にならないと思います。
連続で取り込む場合は、違うスキャナをおすすめします。
文章や、ちょっとした写真の取り込み、私のように線画メインで取り込む人はこれで十分です。

ただ、この機種は後継機が出るようななので、今なら待つのも手かもしれません。
といっても所詮スキャナなので進化の程は？ですが・・
