北野 武監督の第6作目であり、安藤政信のデビュー作となった青春ドラマ。問題児の高校生・マサルとシンジは、カツアゲしようとした高校生の助っ人にKOされたことを機にボクシングを始める。卒業後、シンジはボクサーとなるが、マサルはヤクザに憧れ…。

北野武にとって、再出発のきっかけになった作品。
安藤政信と金子賢を主演し、本人は監督に徹している。

ストーリーは非常にシンプルだが、演出の妙で色々な事を感じさせてくれる奥深いものへと昇華されている。
安藤政信の顔が印象的。ボクシングのシーンもリアリティが溢れていて、監督のこだわりを感じる。

ラストの台詞を希望ととるか絶望ととるかは個人によると思う。
僕は希望だと感じ取ったし、この映画からパワーをもらった。

個人的にはキタノブルーがもっとも良く似合う作品だと思う。
栄光と挫折を描いた骨太な青春映画。

最近、北野武監督作品を良く鑑賞するようになりました。
この作品は、仲の良い二人が、それぞれの生きる道を見つけ、一時袂をわかつも、結果的には、元の鞘に収まるという、多少の無念さが観る側に伝わる作品です。
でも、ラストの「まだ、始まっちゃいねぇよ。」というセリフに、わずかな希望を感じさせます。
そう、いつだって今、この瞬間が、スタート・ラインなんだと、少しの希望がある所に、負け犬の根性が垣間見えます。
良い映画です。　観ることをお勧めします。

1996年作品、94年8月のバイク事故以後の初監督作、

ここでそれまでの5作品すべてを覆っていた濃厚な死神の影がいったん薄くなった、人生は理不尽でどうにもならないものだが、なぁーに、どうにかなるさ、どうせならどんな重みもみんな引き受けてやろうじゃないの、と北野は50歳にして吹っ切れたのだとおもう、死は自らが呼び寄せるものではなく時期がくればかってにやってくるものなのだから、あせらずゆっくり待っているよ、と、

物語は行き場を失いそうになりながらも懸命に前進しようとする少年達を描いた純粋な青春映画の傑作、主役はあくまでの金子と安藤だが彼らの何人もの同級生たちの人生も同時並行で描かれる青春群像劇として見たほうが楽しめるとおもう、

最後のマサルのせりふはバブル景気後の物事を簡単に勝ち負けの二者択一で判断してしまおうという風潮が行き過ぎた時代に強烈な否定をしてみせたのだとおもう、終了後の後味のよいそう快さは北野映画でも随一のもの、「あの夏、」とともに今現在、進行中の青春をおくる世代にこそ鑑賞を薦めます、

バイク事故の夏を思い返せば、あー、これでたけしも終わりかと思ったものです、さすがに持ち合わせる生命力が尋常ではないのでしょう、現場復帰宣言のような「リターン」という題名とともに映画製作も再開、ただし本作と次作「花火」はメジャー公開ではなかったことは新しいファンにも知っていてほしいことです、
