ガープス第４版に合わせて更新した、ガープス・ルナルの後続となる作品。

ルナル（そしてユエル）の良い点は、世界設定がきっちりしていることである。
ファンタジーの基本を捻ったような、一風変わった文化であるが、それはそれで楽しめる世界設定である。
本作では、各キャラクターの全身像がイラスト化されており、その世界の人物のイメージを知る上で非常に役立つ。

しかし悪い点として、前作ルナルから問題になっていたことであるが、ルール面での調整がおざなりすぎる。
特に、目玉となるはずの各神殿の特殊武器の強さのバランスは最低で、作者はガープス担当でありながら、ガープス初心者か？と思わせるほど、強さにムラがありすぎる。
ある神殿武器は、役に立たないのに無意味に高価で、しかも専用技能が必要かと思えば、隣の神殿武器は一般技能で扱えてしかも非常に強力、といった不公平さである。
また、なんとしても特殊武器を使わせようとするあまり、一部神殿では無意味に特殊武器のバリエーションを増やしすぎているのが目に付く。
ひどいものになると、片手だと普通の武器なのに、両手で使うと魔法武器と同じ効果という、ガープスのルールそのものを無視した強引設定もあり、さすがに目に余る。
テンプレートをこしらえ、初心者でもガープスに入りやすくしようという姿勢は評価できるが、それらの調整不備な独自設定が、全てぶち壊している。

この作者は文系クリエイターらしく、世界設定の独自性などは非常にすばらしい。
しかし反面、理数系クリエイターの緻密さが致命的と思えるほどに欠けている。
ガープスのような複雑なシステムではなく、ソードワールドのような単純明快なシステムでこの世界を表現すればよいのに、と真剣に思うのだが。

4.0 out of 5 stars 陽光の大陸ジャナストラへの旅立ち, 2005/8/1
「七つの月の歴史」と「ルナルの生活」を紹介するイントロダクションから始まり、8人のサンプル・キャラクターのデータ、ルールのリファレンス、冒険シナリオが用意されている第一章「クイック・スタート」。
第二章「キャラクター作成」、第三章「魔法」、第四章「判定・戦闘ルール」と続き、第五章「冒険の舞台と敵」で、ジャナストラ大陸が紹介されています。
「次なる色彩」現象や、変身種族シェイパーなど、面白そうな要素がいろいろあります。
ガープス第3版からの変更点としては、受動防御がなくなり、HPが体力基準、FP（疲労点）が生命力基準に、また基本反応速度という項目が追加されたりしています。
第六章にシナリオが用意されていますし、これ1冊で、すぐに冒険が始められるようになっています。

GURPSの良さを打ち消すような作品。この一冊で楽しめる。
そういう割には、ルールが雑。値段もバカ高いし、
このままでは、GURPS自体が消滅してしまう。
素直に、GURPSBASICを出せばよい。
