「哲学に触れてみたいけど、難しそうだし・・・」という人にお勧めなのが、この本。結論から先に書いておくと、これはあらゆる哲学の解説書の中でも最も平易に書かれたものであり、したがって一度通読すればカントの『純粋理性批判』の全体像がはっきりと見えてくるというスグレモノである。

哲学というものにこれまでほとんど触れることのなかった方へ少々書いておくと、まずカントという哲学者は、その文体や構造の複雑さからして凄く難しい哲学者である、ということをここではっきりさせておく必要があるかもしれない。つまり、「よし、この辺ではじめて哲学の本を一冊・・・」という考えで、いきなりカントの著作、とりわけ『純粋理性批判』などを手にとろうものならば、正直言って序論の最初のページで投げ出してしまうこと請け合いなのだ（涙）。

だからこそ、僕がはじめてこの『カントはこう考えた』を読んだときには、それはそれは深く感心してしまったのである。「まさか『純粋~』をここまで分かりやすく解説できるとは！」と。

また、この本には色々なエピソードも度々に登場する。ここではあえて触れないが、カントの全体像を掴むのにも適した一冊であるということができるだろう。オススメです。

高尚、清潔、不可侵といったイメージをもたれる理性のスキャンダルを明らかにする書。人間理性が、感性によって与えられる所与以上のものを把握しようと飛躍すると、理性は能力の限界に突き当たり誤謬を生み出す。例えば、「宇宙の始まりはあるのか？」、「世界に果ては在るのか」、「原子のような、物質の最小単位のようなものはあるのか」、「神はいるのか」といったたぐいの問いは、その答えを導く出すための『素材』が絶対的に欠けている為に、絶対的な答えを導き出すことが出来ず、二律背反(アンチノミー)に陥る。それらは、理性が自らの権利を越権したために、スキャンダルに陥った顕著な例だ。上で挙げた問いは、カントが純粋理性批判に於いて提示し、その答えがアンチノミーに陥る事を証明した四つの問いである。本書の前半では、カントが行ったアンチノミーの証明についての説明が書かれている。後半でもそれとの絡みで、因果律についてや、自由意志について、カントの二項図式について、等が書かれている。結構分り易い本。カント哲学全体を見渡すには向いているかもしれない。

　純粋理性批判は難解な哲学書の中でも取分け難解と言われている。確かに、一人で登るにはカント哲学は専門用語と翻訳の壁が高すぎる。しかし、著者はその難解さを平明な一般表現でじっくり解きほぐしてくれる。それだけではない。様々な興味深いエピソードや思考実験で、私たちの世界観そのものに無数にある先入観を気付かせていく。そのプロセスは、楽しくエキサイティングでさえある。そこにある哲学は晦渋な観念の遊戯ではなく、日常生活や社会状況を支配する私たちの理性や感性に、新たな自由への可能性を示してくれるものだ。
　こうして従来の哲学入門書には見られないカントへの深いアプローチは、私たちのモノトーンなカント像を鮮明に多彩に蘇らせてくれるのである。
