日本版の予告編があまりにもふざけているので、作品自体も安っぽい作品かと思っていた。
なんであんな予告編を作ったのか分からない程、ストーリーはシリアス。
派手な演出がない分、ある意味とてもリアルで、観ているこちらまで身体が冷えてきて、絶望感や焦りが襲ってくる。
これが本当に実話に基づいた作品であるなら、娯楽的にあんな予告を作っていい内容ではないはずだ。
予想以上に、登場人物に同調し、感情を揺さぶられた作品。

まだ、前作（オープンウォーター）よりも救いがある状況で展開される物語です。
ただ、登場人物が、よけいな所でイライラしたり、冷静さを失ったりして、観ている
、こちらがイライラします。ラストの展開なども、もう少し登場人物が初めから冷静
なら、他の人達は死なずに済んだろうなぁ、と思います。前作よりは面白かったです。

前作は良くも悪くもそれなりにインパクトがあり、怖さやら後味の悪さやらの毒があり、映画としての存在感があった。俳優も力演で、脚本も不気味な持続力があったと思う。
今回の「２」は、前作ほどの存在感もなく、かといって娯楽作品にもなりきれず、さしたるハラハラ感もなし。登場人物もおバカすぎて感情移入できない。

そういう点を全部割り引いて、真面目にストーリーを考えてみても、物足りなさが残る。発端はいいと思うのだが、展開が甘い。「さすが！」ともう一息のところまでやらせておいて失敗するのなら、手に汗握るのだろうが、そこもイマイチ。
それは、登場人物の性格を描ききれていないから。みんな単なる仲良しで行き当たりばっったりの行動しかしないし、徹底したエゴイストも居ないし、サスペンスとしての要素に欠ける。ヒロインの過去のトラウマも、取ってつけた感じ。

状況から言えば、見ているほうは客観的なので、細かい部分で突っ込みどころ満載なのが当たり前。現場ではその当たり前のことが見えないから事故が起こるのだ、ということを再認識させてくれる。水着を繋いでよじ登ったりと、いいところまで行くのだが、なぜ体重の軽い女性を登らせ、登りやすいように下の部分を固定して応援しないのか？闇雲に旗の布切れを捕まえてどうなるのか？なぜ体力の尽きないうちに船の外周を調べないのか？など、傍から見て当たり前のことが現場では分からない…という、反面教師の部分だけは評価できた。
音楽も安っぽくて盛り下がり、Ｃ級映画として見ればまあまあ…という感じか。
