10ccJapanese reissue of this 1975 album from British Art Rockers 10cc featuring two bonus tracks; 'Channel Swimmer' and 'Good News'. Original Soundtrack, which is not a soundtrack to anything in particular, was the release that made the band an FM Rock radio staple. 10 tracks including 'The Second Sitting For The Last Supper', 'Life Is A Minestrone' and the massively successful 'I'm Not In Love'. Mercury. 2006.

実験音楽好きの二人（ゴドレイ＆クレーム）とポップな二人（エリック＆グラハム）からなる10ccがイギリス人特有のシニカルな思考をベースに融合し、うまくブレンドされたアルバム。
絶妙のバランスは代表曲でもある"I'm Not In Love"に集約されている。万人受けするポップなメロディー。それとは裏腹にシニカルな歌詞。（「キミの写真を飾るのは、壁の穴をお隠すため」って…）コーラスを気が遠くなるくらい何度も重ね合わせたり、音の広がりや厚みも当時のレコーディング技術を考えると驚異的。この曲をハイライトとしたこのアルバムは4人の個性（正確には2対2の個性）が互いを刺激し、絶妙にバランスのとれたトータルアルバム（架空のサウンドトラックアルバムという、これまたひねくれたコンセプト）に仕上がっている。

７５年発表の３ｒｄ。架空の映画のサウンドトラックというコンセプトを元に作られた作品・・・ということがどうでも良くなるほどの名曲「アイム・ノット・イン・ラヴ」を含む作品として長らく愛され続けている作品である。スチュワート/ゴールドマンの手によるこの曲はエレピの弾き語りを活かしたシンプルで良い曲だが、この曲にメンバーの４人は新たな魂を注ぎ込んだ。コーラスのテープ・ループ、メロトロン、ギズモ、卓によるイコライジング・・・様々な音源や技術が投入されたことだけは確かだが、実際にどうやって作られたのかは分からないこのコーラスの壁。アナログ機材の極限の一つとも言えるこのサウンドは絶対に体感すべきだと思う。(出来ればヘッドフォンではなく大音量で) この曲はメンバー４人の結晶であり、次のアルバムで彼らが分裂してしまうことを考えるとこの曲こそが彼らの到達点であったとも思える。その他の曲も彼らの他の作品とはクオリティ的に一線を画すものばかりであり、１．はクイーンの元ネタとも言われるオペラ・タッチの名曲。７．はゴドレイ/クレームがヒストリー・ミックスで再び取り上げたポップな名曲。カンツォーネ？風の３拍子の８．もシリアスな作品群の中でちょっとだけリラックスさせてくれる佳曲である。
選りすぐられた名曲群と、今聞いても斬新に思える優れたサウンドを持った異常なほどの完成度を誇る歴史的名盤。１０ｃｃの魅力はこれだけではないが、これを聞かずして彼らの本質は分からないと思う。
