81年にビル・エヴァンスへの追悼の意を込めて製作された。美しい旋律の「イン・ユア・オウン・スウィート・ウェイ」からエヴァンス得意の「ナーディス」までゆかりの曲をトリオ演奏でおくる。

80年に死去したビルを追悼し、翌81年に録音。丹念にビルの音楽を綴っている。しかし出てくる音は、まさしくリッチー独自の動的で弾力に満ちた異国風のタペストリーである。ビルの耽美性をリッチーは見事に気化しつつ解き放し、空気を一変させた。フリーや現代音楽にまで柔軟性があるリッチーはビルよりも外向的なのだ。これは亡きビルの面影を借りた、生きるリッチーの肖像画といえる、初春の黎明を映す「ピース・ピース」、赤い炎の「ナルディス」は彼のみが描き得る生命の息吹そのものである。 (鷲頭毅志人) --- 2001年01月号
