人類の黎明期から19世紀までを舞台に、交易によって商業帝国の構築を目指す経済シミュレーションゲーム。プレイヤーは交易ルートの整備を行いながら利益の拡大を行い、商業界の制覇を目指していく。舞台となる時代が古代~産業革命期の約4000年に及ぶため、それぞれの時代に適した交易品、交易手段を選んでいかなくてはならない。また米、生糸といった食料/原料となる物資や彫刻となどの工芸品を輸送し、地域により異なる相場の価格差を利用して利益を得ていく。細部に渡ってレンダリング処理されたユニット、施設、3Dマップのグラフィックと200種類以上の建造物、30種類以上のユニット、19種類以上のエピソードを用意。

プレイヤーは交易ルートの整備を行いながら利益の拡大をし、商業界の制覇を目指していきます。競合相手がより優れた商品を取り扱っている場合は、交易ネットワークを臨機応変に改変、又は競合相手と直接対決しなければなりません。エピソードごとに様々な種類の商品や技術が登場します。

4.0 out of 5 stars 需要と供給の関係が徹底した経済シミュレーション, 2009/6/13
　ワゴンセールで安かったので買ったのですが、中々面白く全シナリオをクリアしてしまいました。
　経済シミュレーションであり、時々雇った商人が盗賊に襲われるぐらいで、戦闘要素はありません。プレイヤーの主な役割は生産地と消費地を結ぶルートを設定し、そこを行き来する商人を雇い管理することです。シナリオ内の時間の経過で新技術が登場すると、新商品が旧商品に取って代わったり、輸送手段が改善されるので、効率的にそれに対応する必要があります。需要と供給の関係が徹底しており、１つの市場に商品を投入し過ぎると、価格が下がり赤字となります。ゲームを通して、交易というのは生産地を確保するだけでは駄目で、商品を買ってくれる消費地を育成することも大事だというのがよくわかります。
　難点は建物等のグラフィックが見映えしないこと、シルクロードのような広大な地域のシナリオでは、マップ切替が面倒なこと。
　PCゲームに戦闘以外の要素を求める方は、試してみてもよいと思います。
