書店に英語版と日本語版が両方置いてあったので読んでみました。
原作の方は、熟語表現や慣用表現で言葉遊びをしている部分が多く、
そこが一番面白いところです。
したがって日本語だけを読んでも、何が面白いのかはわかりにくいでしょう。
文字の少ない本なので、日本語版のほうに英語の原文も入っているとよかったですね。

もともと面白い本ですし、翻訳も間違っているわけではありません。
ただ、ジョークを翻訳して笑わすには、自分でジョークを考えるのに等しいひらめきが必要です。
この本がそのレベルに達した名訳とはいえないと思います。
英語に抵抗がなければ、原作の方がおすすめです。

恐らく誤訳というより日本語の語彙が少ないのでしょう。
もちろんプロの翻訳家が出来ないような訳ですから、
そういった面では味わいがあるのかもしれません。
ただ、原作の持つ雰囲気は壊れていますが。

この本を買って感動したよ！こんな本のつくりははじめてみたからね。文字は少ないんだけど、ほんの細工で楽しめる。もちろん話の内容も面白いよ。ぜひお試しください。買って損はないと思います
