確かに今このゲームのグラフィックを見ればそのしょぼさにショックを受けるかもしれないが、一方では私のようにノスタルジックな気持ちにさせてくれる稀有なソフトでもある。そもそも今のリアルな時代であってもクソゲーは存在するわけで、何もリアルさが評価の全てでもないのである。もしこのソフトを現在やる機会があれば、今までのRPGのありかたを変えた（コマンド入力での独特の戦闘画面・斬新なフィールド画面等）スタイルそしてシナリオ等に魅了されてしまうのではないだろうか？今でさえ。。

思えば、シナリオ：堀井雄二・キャラクターデザイン：鳥山明・音楽：すぎやまこういち。と一級のクリエイターが集結、しかも個々が分業して担当とする今までにないスタイルでいて当時の意気込みも感じた。当時模型屋さんで初めてそのシーンを見た時のカルチャーショックみたいなのを今でも覚えている。今までに全く感じたことの無いゲーム感覚。この新鮮な感覚は良かれ悪かれこの時が最初で最後であった。

やはり「一流・分業制」はあらゆる意味で正解だったのではないだろうか？姫の救出・悪者退治という在り来たりではあるが、その道中にちりばめられた数々のエッセンスがあったし、黎明期のゲーム界にあって欧州テイストの古き物語性を取り入れた斬新なシナリオ・パッケージのイラストといい敵のデザインといい大人から子供まで惹きつけるキャラクターデザイン・オーケストラでも成せる壮大な音楽。全てが新鮮であり素晴らしかった。しかし、本当の素晴らしさを知るのはIIからだ。

「ゲームなのに、街が生きているではないか!」
ドラクエはまさにそこが良いです。次に進むべき場所を自分で探し出す。まさに冒険!
改めて堀井さんは尊敬に値すると思いました。
難易度は今のゲームと比べたら格段に難しいです。はっきりいって、鬼です。しかし、まだRPGが普及していなかったこの時期、このクオリティの高さには脱帽ですね!

家庭ゲーム機でＲＰＧを普及させる一因となった功績は高い。
今を基準にすると確かに陳腐です。
しかし、それが原点。
振り向けないから、話す時も方向確認。会心の一撃もミスする。
現在のＲＰＧが失ったモノを持っていると思います。
不自由さが、とても懐かしい。
オールドファンなら、分かって頂けるはず。
