ファン待望のシリーズ最新作は、一気に物語が動き出しまさに佳境に入ってきた一冊だった。
銃撃事件を追う過程で、どこか壊れた青年クロと出会う椎葉。そして、浮かび上がってきた、新興暴力団組長五堂の存在。
登場人物が一気に増え、舞台が大きく回り出している。宗近、クロ、五堂の歪んだ関係や絡み合った糸に、読んでいて背筋の寒さを感じた。
シリーズ中、初めて完結せず「ｔｏ　ｂｅ　ｃｏｎｔｉｎｕｅ」という、焦れったくももどかしい終わり方となっている。
ファンとしては、すでに次作が待ち遠しいと言ったところだろう。

今回久々にこの「エス」の最新作を読んで、不可思議な感覚に襲われた。このシリーズが、英田サキの代表作であることは間違いない。
作家本人もノリにノって書いているのであろうし、だからこそファンの気持ちも掴んでいるのに違いない。
だが、この「エス」と英田サキの他の作品との狭間に横たわる、溝の深さはどうだろう？　物語の骨格作りやストーリー展開の手法が、エスとはまるで別人のように感じるのは私だけだろうか。
ここ数作、テンプレで無難にそつなくまとまった、と言うだけの作品を出し続けていた英田サキと、この「エス」を書き続けている英田サキ。
英田サキは、実は二人いるのではないか？　ふとそんな思いさえ抱いてしまうほどの、落差を感じてしまった。

「エス」「咬痕」につづく三冊目です。今回で刑事の椎葉の苦悩はさらに深まり、でも、宗近に向かってゆく心をおさえきれない、そして、宗近の想いにも知らないふりをもうできなくなる…、という、実においしい話です。またまた魅惑的なキャラクターもでてきて、さてどうなるんだ！？　と、かぶりつきで読んでいると、突然、「つづく」なんです〜！！！そりゃないぜベイビー！　「エス」「咬痕」が一巻完結になっているので油断してたら、この「裂罅」は次作「残光」とあわせて一個のお話でした。残念。
個人的には宗近の、椎葉を深く想っている描写にぐぐっときました。たまらないです。
二人のエッチシーンも相変わらず彼ららしくて、女々しくなくてステキです。
設定にちょっと納得できないところもあったので（クロちゃんが設定よりも若ぞーに感じるとか、篠塚が役職の割りに普通の人っぽすぎるとか）、星4つと迷いましたが、設定の違和感よりも二人のラブ度が勝りましたね。

椎葉の苦悩、宗近の苦悩、そして二人の関係を知りながらだまって見守り続ける椎葉の義兄篠塚の苦悩、それぞれの想いが痛いくらいに切ない。
回を追うごとに重くなる内容は読んでいて辛くもあるが、それ以上に魅力のある内容ではやり見逃す事は出来ませんでした。
新しい登場人物が出てきて更に物語が複雑にもなり、次回で終わりは確かにさびしい気もしますが椎葉にとって宗近にとって一番良い状態で…特に椎葉を早く解放してあげて！
