   マフィアの組員の18歳のラウは、ボスのサムの指示で香港警察に入る。一方、ラウと同じ警察学校に通っていたヤンは組織犯罪課のウォン警視に見込まれてマフィア世界へ潜入。10年後、ラウは警察内で出世し、ヤンもサムに気に入られて麻薬取引をまかされるまでになっていた。そんな中、マフィアも警察も内部情報者がいると知り、双方とも裏切り者を探す指示をラウとヤンに下すのだった……。
   極限に追い詰められていく男たちの心理と、潜入の末の心の変化が生み出すドラマがヘタな説明台詞なしに描き込まれていて、胸を熱くするとともになんともやるせない気持ちにさせてくれる。また麻薬取引日のラウとヤンによる情報合戦は実にスリリング。展開も予想がつかないし、最後まで釘づけにさせられること間違いなし。実に見事なフィルムノワールだ。（横森 文）

｢相手の組織に潜入する者の物語｣ を書こうと思ったとしても、
このような脚本は書けません。身分がばれるばれると 徐々に追いつめられていく怖さは時限爆弾のようです。伏線のはり方も巧妙です。
（もちろん俳優陣も見事です）

　とにかく引き込まれます。素晴らしい内容。アンディ・ラウよりトニー・レオンの方が目立っています。この話の要はもちろん主役の二人だが、アンソニー・ウォンの演技が非常に素晴らしい。重厚で深みがある。
　ストーリー的にケリー・チャンが出てきた理由がイマイチ理解できないが、それを補って余りある内容。
　アンディ・ラウはエリート刑事であるためそれほど悲壮感は感じないが、トニー・レオンの姿には「信頼できる人がいない。心を許せる人がいない。自分の本当の姿を知っている人がいない。自分の苦悩を理解してくれる人がいない。いつこの仕事に終わりが来るのか分からない」という悲壮感を感じます。

マフィア組織に潜入するアンカバ捜査官と警察組織内に潜入するマフィア。映画のテーマに、相対立する両極端を掲げるのは、視聴者にとっては解りやすいが、陳腐で作り話っぽくなる危険性がある。最初は「想定が無茶だ」と思って見ていた。ところが、どっこい。１０年を経て、なおストーリー展開にスピードがあり、配役がうまく、何より奇をてらわず誠実に描かれているのにびっくり。また、アンカバの心理状態まで表情で表しているので引き込まれた。実に面白い良い映画だと思う。祝！リメイク・ディパーティッドのアカデミー賞受賞！本当はインファナル・アフェアが受賞でしょう。
