向田邦子さんが愛聴していたことで有名なアルバム
やっとCD化されました

なんと気持ちの落ち着く声なんだろうかと思う
“声”も音のひとつなので
自分にとって心地よい音質というものが声に対してもあるわけで
この人の声は私の中でとても心地良いものでした

向田さんは３曲目のSpring is here に対して
“水羊羹を食べるときに一番合う”
と言われているので、是非水羊羹とともに聴いてみたいものです。
このアルバムを聴くと向田さんの佇まいも浮かんできます。

けだるいような、かとおもえば時に情熱的。
歌詞はどれも後ろ向きで、恋に破れた女を歌っているようですが、
曲調と彼女の歌声は、決してジメジメしてなく、何故か心地よい。
一言で言えば、これは「大人の曲」。
テレビを消して、これをかけたら、部屋が一気に大人のムードになります。
さらに照明を消してキャンドルつけたら、
どこかのお洒落なバーに行ったみたい。
ゆったりとした時間を演出してくれる、そんなアルバムです。

　女性ジャズボーカルはよく聴きます。このアルバムは、かの向田邦子の愛聴盤ということで買ったものの、ほとんど聴くことはありませんでした。
　ビリー･ホリデイに近いのでしょうか、やや暗いと言うか、古さも感じてしまいます。自分はどちらかというとスー･レイニーやドリス・デイのような透き通った明るい雰囲気のジャズボーカルが好きなので･･･。まあ、このへんは人それぞれの好みによるでしょう。
　それに彼女は歌がとりたてて上手いわけでもないように思います。オトナっぽい白人女性ボーカルという点では、オランダのアン・バートンのほうが歌に表情があって、一枚上だと思います。
