今では、ワークショップやファシリテーションという言葉が一般的になってきましたが、
「自然と触れ合うワークショップ」の企画展開のヒントにあふれた本です。

一方的な押し付けではなく、
参加者自身の興味を刺激し、関心を引きだし、わかりやすく、楽しく解説するための方法（まさにワークショップですね）が解説されています。

また、「うまいプレゼン」や「その企画」。「参加者をまき込むトーク」や「スライド作り」などのヒントにもあふれていますので、

自然解説に限らず、仕事にも生かせる
「うまく説明する（プレゼン）技術を高める」
「ミーティングや学びあう場の進行・気づきを促す（ファシリテーション）」のが
うまくなるための本としても優れていると思います。

自然好き、環境教育関係の方なら、ファシリテーションやプレゼンを学ぶのに、入りやすい一冊だと思います。

自然解説に自然の知識はいらない。いるのは、解説のテクニックだという本。

そこまでいうなよ、という向きもあろうが、この本を読めば、それがわかるはず。自然解説など、ひとつ、ふたつのことを知っていればできる、なら、相手の気を引き、わかりやすく、そして楽しく解説するにはどうしたら良いのかということが解説されている。

やっぱ、アメリカ人は日本人と考えていることが違いますね、ということもわかってしまったりする。もっと、サービス精神旺盛な、自然解説者にならないとね。知識はそのあと。かな

普通の人や子供に、全く前提知識の無いことに興味を持ってもらうための解説技術がわかります。私は全くジャンルの違う所で初心者の方に教育する機会があり、その術を求めてこの本にたどりつきました。これは自然に限らず使えそうです。翻訳の文章はやや古臭くもう少しやわらかい文章のほうが良いと思います。
