中学生のとき散々聞いたジョン・レノンの名盤中の名盤です。若い人にとってはビートルズは父母たちが聞いたバンド、もしかしたら祖父母たちのアイドルかも分かりません。ＬＰのあのビニールの匂い、目に焼きついたジャケットの色。若い彼らはこの紙のミニチュアではどう感じるのでしょうか。一曲目のイマジンから最後のオー・ヨーコまで10曲。ジョンの魂と双璧の伝説的アルバムを少しでも多くの人たちに聞いて欲しい。ベスト版でなくてオリジナルの形で！我々の年代から言わせれば販売上のあれこれをどうのこうのと言いたくなるのをぐっと我慢するべきだ。新譜が出なければ廃盤になってしまうのだから。過去の名盤で手に入らないものがいくつあるか考えてください。ひとりでもオリジナルな形で聞いてもらえるなら新譜として出てくることを歓迎したいものです。昔の名盤にしないためにこういう形の新譜もありだと思います。

未発表曲・未発表音源はアンソロジーなどでかなりの数を発表して、
その後、オリジナルアルバムのデジタルリマスターも終了し、
（サムタイム・イン・ニューヨーク・シティは不完全だが・・・）
とうとう最終手段の紙ジャケット仕様での発売まできましたね。

ジョンの作品が多くの方に聴いてもらう機会が増えることは
非常に嬉しいことだと思うのですが、
デジタルリマスター前のＣＤアルバム
デジタルリマスター後のＣＤアルバム
デジタルリマスター後で紙ジャケットのＣＤアルバムと
同タイトルでありながら、
場合によっては３種類の商品が店頭にならぶことになります。
これは本当に望ましいことなのかと疑問に思います。

せめてビートルズのＬＯＶＥのような
オーディオDVD付きのものであれば
よかったのではないかと思います。

待望のジョン・レノンの紙ジャケ・コレクション。総じて英オリジナルＬＰの再現性に優れた出来だが、本作の再現性には思わず唸ってしまった。背の上下の絞り込みまできっちり再現されているのだから恐れ入る。豚ポスト・カードもしっかり付いているし（小さい！）、ポスター・内袋・ライナーノートと付属品が多く入っているにも関わらず、あまり分厚くならない。Ｅ式折り込み・コーティング・ジャケはほんと綺麗です。これならプラケースのリミックス＆リマスター盤をすでに持っていても、価格が高かろうが欲しくなるっていうもんです。これでリミックス音源ではなくてオリジナル・リマスターなら文句ないんですけど。
