１９８５年当時のアメリカとロシアの架空の戦争を、１０キロ四方強の田舎の島を舞台に描いている。
相当数に及ぶ武器、装甲車、兵器、ヘリなどが登場、全てプレイヤーが使おうと思えば使用可能。
ダメージ判定は非常にシビアで足に弾が当たったら立ち上がれず、
腕に着弾すれば激しい手ブレで狙いは定まらなくなり、
頭、心臓などに命中してしまえば即死。

プレイヤーは戦場の疑似体験をすることになる。
軍事訓練など受けたことの無い多くのプレイヤーは序盤は自分の無力さを痛感するだろう。
ＮＰＣより役に立たず、隠れているつもりなのに真っ先に殺される自分に泣けてくるかもしれない。
戦場には決してランボーのような英雄はいないということを思い知ることになる。
本編ミッションは４０ステージ弱あるが

それが終わったらミッションエディタでいくらでも好きなミッションを作れる
（複雑なものを作る場合いくらかスクリプトを書く知識が必要）。
またゲーム中に無い兵器などは
ネット上に個人レベルで制作・公開しているサイトがたくさんあるので
その意味では兵器類は無限と言ってもいいかもしれない。
日本語訳ガイドがついているものもあるので

特にこだわりが無ければそれを買おう。
星１つ欠けたのはグラフィック（特に人間のモデリング）に難があるため。
遠景はまだ見れるものだと思う。

戦争ゲームですから、戦闘シーンはありますが、
キャンペーンシーンでは、ドラマの１役を演じるというイメージ
の感想を受けました。
戦闘よりも、ドラマというか、全体の流れ重視というか、映画を
見ているような感じ。
日本語マニュアルがありますが、しゃべりが英語なので、英検３級
の実力で、とことどころ辞書を引きながら、解釈しています。

英語が瞬時に理解できれば、楽しいと思います。
あと、個人的なわがままですが、無線の指示がうるさい。
実際の戦闘は、こうなのかもしれませんが。
