 「Ａ列車で行こう」シリーズの基本コンセプトである「都市開発鉄道シミュレーション」はそのままに、街を完全3D化した新作。プレイヤーは鉄道会社のオーナーとして、線路を敷き、列車を走らせることで運賃収入が得られ、同時に人の流れが新たな建物を呼び、街を発展させていく。3Dになっても操作は簡単。マウスを使ってカメラやレール敷設を操作し、「街を操る感覚」と「街を見渡す感覚」を存分に味わうことができる。

本バージョンでは10種類のマップとマップコンストラクションを標準搭載。既存のマップだけでなく、自分だけのニューゲームデータを作成可能で、高層ビルや道路など、登場するすべての建物を建設できるだけでなく、マップの基礎である「地形」も自由自在に変形させることができる。また、ARシリーズの最新車両「AR8」、東日本旅客鉄道株式会社は107系100番代など12種類、EUROPEはDANGAN Linerなど14種類を追加して、シリーズ最多の200種類の車両を収録。鉄道ファンはもちろん、建物好きの人にもオススメ。（三井貴美子）

Ａシリーズは、いつも音楽は凝っているなと思っていました。８もやはり音楽は良いですが、今回特に気づいたのは操作性です。間違いなく良くなっているのを感じます。ストレス無く、久しぶりにのめり込んでいます。ＧＷの予定を変更して、数年ぶりに夜明けまで、はまってしまいました。

昔の良い頃のA列車が帰ってきた感じでとても良いです。まだ少ししか遊んでないのですがグラフィックも綺麗でとてもリアルです。少し高スペックが要求されますが…。減点なのは取説があまりにも簡素で初めての人にはわかりにくいかもです。

A列車で行こう４は、直線の線路にアイコンのようなドット絵の車輌ながら、沿線の開発と経営を楽しむ鉄道シュミレーションの先駆者であった。
今回のA列車８はそれを３Dにしたようなゲームで、美麗な３Dとともに見事に再現された。
１日動かしてみた感想として、平面図を用意しないフル３Dでありながら、キーボードショートカットを覚えれば操作感は悪くない。車輌はディフォルメされているが、テクスチャが精巧でなかなか良いと思う。ただ、A列車で行こう21stのような鉄道シュミレータとしてのリアリティを求める人には物足りないかもしれない。

ハイスペックなPCで、美しい町並みを楽しみたいゲームだ。
