前作「ハイ・フィデリティ」同様、うだつの上がらない30代のオトコの物語。
キャラクター設定や会話のテンポが絶妙で、すいすいと読み進めました。
とりわけ、皮肉やグチであふれた細かな心理描写が笑いを誘い、
筆者の人間観察力にはホントため息が出ます。
ヒーローが活躍するわけではなく、大事件が起こるわけではなく、

どこにでもありそうな日常生活を書いているのですが、
人生っていいもんだな、と爽やかな気持ちになれる一冊です。

映画も楽しみだ！

『ハイ・フィデリティ』がおもしろかったので、これも買ってみた。
原典を読んだわけじゃないから正確にはわからないけれども、著者独特の口語
体で、すいすい読める。特有の比喩やユーモアがあってたまにわかりにくい所
もあるけれども、ホントにＵＫの３０代男が喋ってるみたいで面白い。

ストーリーは、３６歳独身男ウィル（父の遺した印税で生活中）が、シングル
マザーとの関係に味をしめて、シングルファーザーになりすますが、そうこう
しているうちに、マーカス（母に育てられていて、いじめられっ子だ）という
１２歳の少年らと出会う。マーカスの母が自殺未遂を起こしたところに皆で出

くわし、以後マーカスはウィルを訪ねるようになり・・・
呑気に暮らしているようだけれども憎めない男ウィルと、家でも学校でもうま
くいかないせいか、すでに悟ってる１２歳のマーカス君の交流、ふたりの変化
が見もの。会話も多いので読みやすい。
ドラマの次回が気になるとか、子供がどうなるか楽しみとか、ＢＦともう一度

デートしたいとか、つねに次に何かがあるから、自殺しないで前進して生きて
いけるんだ、というコメントには元気付けられる。
