『iLife'06』の売りが『Podcast』と『blog』の完全対応なのが良く解る出来栄え。全てのソフトウエアがこの2つを核に連携している。正直なところiMovieとiDVDはテンプレートの新作が増えたのと細かなアップデイトはあったが、『どきっ』とするほどのものはなかった。(それでもビデオPodcastがちょっと気になるかな)

感動的な出来栄えだったのはiWebだ。これはスゴイ。

まずこれは.Macユーザのためのソフトウエアだということに触れなくてはいけないだろう。.Macの場合、FTPと言う概念が存在しないため逆に普通のインターネットの技を使いづらい部分があった。その典型がblogで、僕もiDiskの中のWebデータを扱う『Sites』というフォルダの中に『Blog』というフォルダを作りMovable Typeのデータを入れて自前blogのテストをし始めていたのだがこれが恐ろしく面倒くさい。これをこのソフトは一挙に打破するだけでなく、最高レベルの自前blogを簡単に創ってしまう。

操作方法は簡単だ。DTPライクなiWebの画面でblogを生成し、.Macに送る。この段階でiDisk側には新しく『Web』というフォルダが創られる。この中には『RSS』と『Sites』というフォルダが生成される。この中にblog他が出来上がって行く。この部分は別のアドレスが与えられていて、.Macで現在使っているデータとは別にホームページを作成する事も可能なようだ。

スタートしたばかりのソフトだが既にテンプレートはすばらしい出来栄えだ。これは、iMovieとiDVDのテンプレートを作成してきたデザイン・スタッフの経験が生きている、ということだろう。今後、.Mac等から新作テンプレートの配付があるとより魅力的だな、と感じた。
