WindowsOSをIntel Mac上で実行する仮想化ソフトウェア。お気に入りのWindowsアプリケーションを、Mac上でシームレスに実行することが可能。
強力なユニティ機能により、WindowsアプリケーションとMacをシームレスに統合する。Windowsアプリケーションは、MacファイルやDockなどから即座に起動できる。また、最小化したWindowsアプリケーションをDockに格納し、Expose機能でWindowsとMacアプリケーションをすばやく切り替えることができる。
また、Boot Campパーティションを読み込んで、そこからWindowsOSの起動が可能。OSの切り替えに再起動は不要。既存のBoot CampパーティションからMacOS Xのデスクトップ上で同時にWindowsも実行できる。Boot Camp パーティションをFusionの仮想マシンとしてインポートすることもでき、空き容量の再利用やスナップショット、AutoProtect、サスペンド、およびレジュームなどの機能を利用できる。
Windows PCからMacへの乗り換えも短時間で実行可能。Windows Converterを使用すれば、WindowsPC全体を仮想マシンとしてMacに移行することが可能。

既にVMware Fusion 3.0が発売されている。

動作速度は、グラフィックを除いて、BootCampとほぼ遜色ない。
しかし、グラフィックは2Dも3DもBootCampよりかなり速度が落ちる。
例えば、MB881J/AでFFXIベンチのスコアは約1600で、これはBootCampの5分の1程度になる。
グラフィックの高速なマシンの方がBootCampとのスコアの開きが大きくなる傾向があるようだ。

Parallels Desktop 4.0と比べても安定性はかなり高い。
2Dの互換性はParallels Desktopに劣らないが、一部のコピープロテクトが正常に動作しない。
3Dの互換性はParallels Desktopにかなり劣る。
詳細はIntelmac+Windows+WikiでGoogle検索して動作検証リストを公開しているサイトを参照のこと。

どうしてもウィンドウズのソフトを使わなくてはならず（会計系）、ウィンドウズマシンの安いものを買おうか悩んでいて、この製品を使うことにしました。最初は、動作が遅くなったりいろいろ不具合がおきるのでは、と思っていたのですが、ものすごくスムーズ。わたしのようにMacがメインで、ウィンドウズを「しかたなく」ちょこっと使う、というひとには素晴らしいツールだと思う。でも、本音はウィンドウズをつかわなくても、全てがMacですめば、この製品はいらないんだけど。。

1.1の時はそう良いとは思わなかったんですが、2.0はかなり良いです。
DirectXが実験的に対応となっていますが、実際使った感じではほぼ満足です。

1.1の頃はサポートも良くなかったですが、今後は期待できそうなのも良いです。
使用の2/3がWindowsなのでとても助かりました。
1.1持ってる人はホームページからバージョンあげれます。
