巻き込まれ型のSF漫画。
良くある物理系のそれではなく、生物、心理系のネタを中心に
主人公ジュジュの災難（女難！？）を描く。

ガンアクションや格闘なども含まれるが、私のおススメは
なんと言ってもヒロイン・レエルのかわいらしさだ。
レエル自身の多面性(?)とアクションベースの展開からそれなりに

残酷なシーンもあるが、それを含めてレエルをかわいらしいと
感じられたなら、あなたはオレと魂の会話ができるはずだ。

あとがきなどで、やまむらはじめ氏との接点も窺えるためか、
作品には匂いとも形容できる特有の雰囲気を感じる。
やまむらはじめ氏の「未来のゆくえ」が好きな方にはお奨めできる。

頭で読まず、目で見て感じる作品かな。
近未来SFマンガと唱ってはいますが、どちらかというとファンタジーな雰囲気を感じます。まあ、SF＝宇宙とかロボット、タイムマシン等々、オーバーサイエンスのイメージ、固定観念があるからなんですけど。それに、全体の描写が生物的なんですよね。
んで、内容はというと、はっきり言って意味不明。何回読み返して理解不能。万人にはオススメできません。複雑とゆーか、専門用語の読者に対する説明が皆無なので、完全に置き去りにされます。でも、なんかハマってしまいました。アクションがオシャレで、単純に絵が好きってのもあるけど、世界観が魅力的でついつい引き込まれてしまいます。意味不明な分、先が全く読めないので続きが気になってしょうがありません。約一年に一冊のペースなんで、いいようにじらされてますし。ただ、今の所は興味深い作品ですが、結末しだいで良作にも駄作にもなるマンガだと思います。

個人的な感想を書きます。
1.この巻に関して
ストーリーにおいてはSF的な描写や伏線などが魅力的です。「タマリスク」「庭師」「謎の少女RAEL」など、琴線に触れるものがたくさんありました。舞台となっているのは砂漠化が進み荒れ果てた惑星です。緑のあふれる島で主人公の少年ジュジュと少女RAELがであう事でストーリーが始まります。
2.「アガルタ」という作品全体について
2008年1月現在、9巻まで発売されていますが、ストーリーのほうがだいぶ混沌としています。伏線に伏線を重ねすぎている印象がありますので、これからお読みになる方はご参考までに。

この巻に関しての評価として、☆4をつけさせていただきました。
