キューブリック自ら「最高傑作」と言い残した作品。それについては何とも言えない。なぜなら、フィルモグラフィーのほとんどが「最高傑作」と言っても良いような鬼才だから。
この「アイズ・ワイド・シャット」で描かれているのは、普遍的でごく普通の事柄。
内容も描写も、異常なところ、狂ったところなど何ひとつ無い。
疑惑、妄想、欲望、不安、虚無・・・。
“人間”のありのままを映し出した一大傑作映画。

キューブリックの遺作か、見てみよう、ということで。
その静謐さに驚いた。エロ映画にありがちな俗っぽさが皆無なのだ。オージー場面でヌけ、と言われても無理に決まっている。
キャスト。身長が１６５ｃｍないトム・クルーズのジェラシー悶々の描写には…童貞の私にもなんか共感できました。おまけにガタイのいい男どもにケンカ売られるし。
所々にキッドマンの濡れ場（無論クルーズの妄想）が。ややベタな表現だなとは思った。ここはもっとうまく表現できなかったものかなあ。
上流階級の殺人事件にあやうく巻き込まれそうになる…それがスケベ了見が発端だったというのだからトムくんがなおさら気の毒。
でも、この映画は「キューブリックの最高傑作」ではないと思います。（私なら迷わず『時計じかけ』を挙げるなあ）
