昔5年の科学や6年の科学で読んでいてそのころから面白いとは思っていたんですが、最近読み返しているとその当時よりずっと理解でき、またはるかに面白いと感じ、科学の横の宣伝で単行本が出ていることを知り、購入しました。この本は本当に面白いし知識も増え、科学が楽しくなります。最近子供の理数離れや学力低下が問題になっていますが、このような本を小学生のころ、あるいは中学生のころに読んでおいたらきっと科学が好きになると思います。もちろんそれ以外の年代の方が読んでも遺伝子や機械や科学的なことについて興味が出てくることと思います。

私は大人にも、難解な科学雑誌よりこちらをおすすめしたい。はっきりいって、この本は少し情報が古い。しかし、これを最先端とて読むのではなく一種の考え方の載った本として読むのがいいだろう。先人の考えがこどもにでもわかりやすく書かれてある。これは一読の価値があるだろう。

学年まんが（小学校５年向け）に書かれた本作品。しかし「あさりよしとお」ファンにとって、彼のとぼけたギャグ満載の中で科学的知識（これが結構おもしろい）を説明するのはもうたまらないのでは。出てくるキャラクターも変なのばかり。
