ＣＤをプレイヤーに入れて、まず耳に入る三波春夫＋コーネリアスの「赤とんぼ」が面白い。
エレクトロニックな要素は極力排され、渋いヴォーカルに寄り添うような静かな伴奏が心地よい。
他にも、静謐さを湛えたグリッチ・ノイズに淡く強いヴォーカルが乗ることで、身を切るようにせつない仕上がりになった坂本龍一＋中谷美紀の「小さい秋みつけた」、
ジャジーでスウィンギンなリズムが楽しい八代亜紀の「証城寺の狸囃子」、
テクノ方面で活躍している金原千恵子ストリングスを従えたくめさゆりの「旅愁」など、
ノスタルジーに訴えるエモーショナルな作品が多い。
秋の夜長にしみじみと聴きこみたい。
期待していたヤン富田（ドゥーピーズ）は、ミニマルな感じで、これまたエレクトロニックな要素は少なく、ちょっとがっかり。
カヒミ・カリィはいつものようにウィスパー・ヴォイス。大友良英のギターもギャンギャンに唸ることなく、声に静かに寄り添う。

今まで、にほんのうたをうたう企画は、声楽歌手らによる美しい音色と曲本来の美しさで“陶酔する”作品は多くありました（唐澤まゆこの『なつかしい未来 ~日本のうた』波多野睦美『美しい日本の歌 (CCCD)』等）。しかし、それだけではポピュラリティの獲得は難しかったかもしれません。にほんのうたをクラシカルな美しさで未来へ残すだけでなく、聞きやすく手にとりやすい、即ち“親しみやすい”かたちに手直すというのは、うたの伝承という面からも求められることですし、一方でリスナーのニーズとしても、細分化され続けるシーンの中で世代を超えて聞かれるうたは求められるものだったと思います。

ユニークな声や音楽で歌われれば我々も子供も楽しく、真似てしまう、つい口を発し歌いやすくなります。あがた森魚「森の小人」やヤン富田「やぎさんゆうびん」、特に八代亜紀「証城寺の狸囃子」なんて本当に楽しくさせてくれます。大人も楽しめるアレンジなんですよ。高田漣「赤とんぼ」なんて当に大人になってからしみじみ口ずさむ時のような仕上がりです。ただカヒミカリィ・大友良英「からたちの花」までいくと、何かお迎えがやってくる領域にまで達してますけども。坂本龍一・中谷美紀「ちいさい秋みつけた」も金剛杖をついて浄土へ向うような欝アレンジです。「旅愁」にほっとさせられました。一方キセル「かなりや」の後半展開やキリンジ「埴生の宿」のトロピカルな明るさは新しい時代に相応しい息吹です。

他方でやはりにほんのうたは「この道」等“美しさ”を秘めるものであり、その美しさと親しみやすさとの接点を担ったのは大貫妙子、最高の選択だと思います。その透明な声、凛としつつしなやかで抑制的な表現。形容しがたい静かで優しい風がこころをとおりぬけてゆきます。
一曲目に戻ったとき、三波春夫の味わい深い音色が一度目よりも一層しみてきこえることを実感しました。コーネリアスのアレンジにも歌心があり、歌声を彼方まで運んでいます。

　秋をテーマにした曲が中心。
　八代亜紀（歌）・丸山和範（編曲）の「証城寺の狸囃子」が最高！間奏で「ポン、ポン」と入れる合いの手も絶妙です。
　山田耕筰が作曲した歌、「この道」「赤とんぼ」「からたちの花」は、語るような歌唱という共通点がありました。三波春夫の「赤とんぼ」は少し異色ですが。
　ＮＨＫテレビの３月のドラマスペシャル『白洲次郎』第二回の最後でカヒミ・カリィの「からたちの花」が流れました。そういえばドラマの音楽担当が「からたちの花」の編曲者の大友良英でした。
