このCDが出る前、会社の先輩の家が早川書店の近くにあったので、「もしかしたら早川義夫に会えるのでは」とちょくちょく店を覗いていた。3回目にして早川義夫氏らしき人を見かけた。リュックをしょったその人は僕のなかでできあがったシャープなその人とはまるで違い太っていて唇がとんがっていて、店番をしている女性に話しかけていた。それからしばらくして、先輩と雑誌を見ていたら「早川義夫**年振りの新作」とかなんとか、という見出しが。にわかに信じられなかった。目を疑った。CDを買い、聞き終わったあと、しばらく立ち上がることができなかった。いったいこの人はなんなんだろう。今(2004年）洋楽雑誌Qでロック史を変えたアルバムとか歌を順位をつけて発表している。僕の場合間違いなく、このアルバムで、最高のロックの曲は「いつか」。出たことも信じられなかったけれど、この曲で終わったアルバムの余韻の強さは今も残っている。

個人的に早川さんの若い時の歌が大好きなのですが、長い休止期間を終えて後の「どこかフッ切れた」後の彼の歌には、以前の「怨念節」にもみまがうほどの「底抜けの暗さ」に加えて、どこか大らかに聴く人を包む「優しさ」が備わったような気がします。もともと凄い天才的人物が「円熟の域（？）」に達して、決して枯れるどころかますます奥深く「普遍的な魂の歌」を歌い上げているということに、やっぱり彼は「本物の芸術家」なのだと強く思い知らされます。「円熟」して「おじさん」になっても、まるで青春真っ直中の若者のように、真摯に自分と向き合う姿勢にはただもう脱帽するばかりです。早川さんにとって、「歌」とは「人生」であり、「人生」とは「歌」なのですね。それがよくわかります。歌を聴かせるだけでその人柄に惚れさせ、かつ、人間として尊敬の念さえ抱かせてくれるほどの「唄い手」は、そうそうザラにいるものではありません。もっともっとたくさんの人に聴いてもらいたいです。

「かっこいいってことは・・」のアルバムからかなりの時が過ぎましたが、なんのなんのすばらしいアルバムですよ。　素敵な歌詞がいっぱい。　一人でグラス傾けながら聴いていると泣けてきますね。
個人的には「この世で一番キレイなもの」と「雪」が大好きです。

感覚に年齢なんか関係ないってゆうことですね。
かっこいい年の取りかたしてます。
幾つになってもずーっと聴きたいアルバムです。
