毎年年末に出版されるミステリガイドの中でも老舗の一つ。
かつて鳴らした覆面座談会は姿を消してすでに久しく、他のミステリガイドとの差別化はほとんどありません（他にまねされただけともいいますが）。
今年は20周年とのことで、恒例の日本人作家による次期作品の予告編「私の隠し玉」の拡大版として、「20年前の私」もしくは「このミスと私」の一口エッセイが収録されています。これが今年度の最大の読みどころでしょう。
一方、ランキング関係では、これまであったジャンルごとの振り返りがなくなっており、全体として紹介作品数が少なくなっているようです。
無難にまとまっていますが、一方でこの本を買う価値が、割安であることと、毎年買っているから続けて買おうという以外にあまり無かったように思います。

20周年！ということで、
20年間のランキングが載っているかというと、載っていない。
裏表紙に歴代1位作品の一覧はありますが。いつもと一緒、もしくはそれより薄め？

2月に別冊宝島でこのミス20年史がでるようなので、記念に、という志しの方はそれを購入されたほうがよいかも。
