桐生さんの本はいつも簡潔で歯切れがいい文章で読みやすいです。特に歴史好きでなくても楽しめる内容だし、おすすめです。残酷な話を書けば右に出る人なし。

ノンフィクションとはいえ、物語っぽい語り口が、読む人を飽きさせない。残酷でエロティックな、桐生操の定番とでもいえるような作品。このごろ著者の作風をなぞったような本があちこちで出ているが、やはり一味も二味も違う。

私は桐生さんの著書は沢山読んでいますが、桐生さんの著書のおかげで西洋史が好きになったと言っても過言ではありません。
実話なんだけど小説みたいに細部まで細かく書いてあるところはすごいと思います。
毎度のことだけど、残酷な話でもサラッと書いてあるので残酷な話が嫌という方でも読めると思います。
ただ桐生さんの著書を何冊も読んでいるとかなり重複しているところがありますね。
今回もこれ知ってるなーっていうのがありましたので、☆一つ減らします。
