マンガ家シリーズの記念すべき一作目。
二作目、三作目は読んでいたものの、出遅れた私は新装版にして
ようやくこの本を手に取ることができました。

「ルコちゃんという愛称」で、「生活能力赤ん坊なみの彼」というフレーズと
表紙の絵のコミカルな色使いで勝手に「コメディ色強いんだろな」と思っていた。
読み始めてみると、あまりにひどいルコちゃん（本名二木）の甘えぶりと
それを甲斐甲斐しく世話をするどうみても犬属性ではない男前の東海林を見るにつけ
「あほっ、捨ててしまえ、そんなやつ」と言いたくなった。
何でこんなやつの世話を焼くかな、どこがいいんだ、こいつのっと思っていたのに、
気づいたら自分も涙が出るほど愛しいと感じてしまっていた。

特にルコちゃんが万年筆を捜すくだりはいい。
そして、タイトルとなったこのセリフを言い出すところも。

私は今日この週末のラッシュ時に、不在連絡表をひっつかんで
宅配センターに本を取りに行った自分はとてもえらかったと思っています。

榎田尤利先生のエンターテイメントBL作品の傑作の「きみがいなけりゃ〜」堂々の新装版です。
初版の出版元のビブロス社が潰れた時はどうなることかと思いましたが、いや、こうして新装版が出版されてよかったよかった。
勝手ながら、魚住君シリーズがシリアス作品の傑作なら、こっちはエンターテイメント作品の傑作、榎田BLの双璧だと思ったりしています。

その後こちらの作品の舞台にもなった出版社つながりの一連の榎田さんの作品が、作家シリーズとなり今後も刊行が予定されているそうですが、やっぱりこの作品の主人公・売れないマイナー漫画家「ルコちゃん」ほどダメな子は他にいません。
「あるわけ無いだろ！」と突っ込みつつも読み進めると、気が付いたら切なくて愛しくて、なぜだかラストには涙が溢れて来る･･･なのに可愛くて笑っちゃうんです。
主人公ルコちゃんのこのダメっぷりがいかほどか、ぜひみんなに読んで確かめて欲しい･･･
そして「か、かわいいかも･･･ルコちゃん･･･」と思えばあなたも今日からルコちゃん親衛隊の仲間入りです。

ルコちゃんの近況が知りたいなあ･･･
と思う今日この頃。

書き下ろしが読みたくて買っちゃいました。
私の耳にも、二木の「ショウジィ〜」って、ちょっと情けなぁい声が聞こえてきます(笑)。
