休刊に追い込まれた講談社の児童雑誌「コミックボンボン」の全盛期の掲載作のひとつ。
ハンゾーという少年忍者とその仲間たちが、江戸のよーなところを狙う悪の組織と戦う、という設定のギャグ漫画である。
ハンゾー自身もそうだが、登場人物の多くが史上有名な人物の名を借りていて、
初めて読む者にも親しみやすい設定となっている。
ハンゾーは小柄な少年であるが、恐るべき戦闘能力を誇る。雑魚や並の敵にはさほど苦戦せずに勝ってしまう、一種のジョーカーキャラと言える。
ハンゾーの使う忍法のほとんどは取るに足らない奇術であり、戦闘中にふざけたりもする。だがボスキャラ級の相手には、打って変わってガチな忍法を繰り出し、死闘を演じる。
また、この漫画は最初から最後まで絵柄や世界観が変化したりせず、作者のもつ抜群の安定感がわかる。
これから第弐巻や第参巻も出るそうな。買うべし。おきらくらくしょーいってみよー！

ちょっと高くないですか？
全六巻だった作品を三冊にまとめると言う事は、一巻につき二巻分のボリューム。
それで約2000円って･･･、まあ、ロックマンＸ（3,4）もそうでしたからいいですけど･･･。

ハンゾーはボンボン黄金期を代表する作品の一つで、
小学生向けとはとても思えないハイレベルなストーリー、シュール過ぎるネタ、
精巧な作画、そして創り込まれた世界観が魅力の痛快時代考証無視娯楽活劇です。
ただ、初期の頃（単行本一巻辺り）はストーリー等がまだ普通のボンボン漫画と言った感じです。
剛腕鬼が出た辺りからが、この漫画の本領発揮だと思います。

こんないい作品をどうして打ち切りになんか出来たのでしょうね。
そして、どうして続編が許されないのでしょうね。
