日常の道具である器から、さらにその役割を超えて光を放つ「うつわ」を制作する3作家、ルーシー・リィー、ジェニファー・リー、エルンスト・ガンペールの作品集。

20世紀初頭にウィーンに生まれ、戦後イギリスで大成したルーシー・リィーは、シンプルななかに大胆な手法や表現を取り入れ、現代陶器の流れに大きな影響をあたえた。スコットランドに生まれロンドンで活躍するジェニファー・リーは、静かで抽象的な造形のなかに、独特な自然観を投影する。ミュンヘン生まれの作家、エルンスト・ガンペールは、倒木や流木などをろくろを使って削り出し、木に宿る命を取り出すかのようにして制作を行う。
3人は伝統や時代の流れにとらわれることなく、独自の作品世界を構築している。
本書は、画期的な照明とアングルによる作品撮影と、宇宙空間をイメージしたレイアウトにより、うつわの宇宙へといざなう前衛的作品集。

六本木の21-21で開催されているうつわ展の写真集です。
とてもきれいです。
お値段もいいですが、何より写真が美しい。

3人の中で日本で著名かつ人気があるのは、ルーシー・リーさんだと
思います。彼女も、外国の作家とは思えないほど、アジアの要素が濃い、
私たちの食卓にも普通に（いや、優雅に）登場しそうな器。
そちらも好きでしたが、私が一番惹かれたのは
エルンスト・ガンペールさん。
彼は木で器を作るのですが、それが本当に美しい。
写真集では展示されていないものも写っていて、
本当に心惹かれました。

ジェニファー・リーさんは会場でお目にかかりましたが、
とてもおちゃめでフランクでかわいらしい方でした。

とても美しく、心和む写真集です。
写真の美しさも際立っています。
実物も見ましたが、写真集のほうがよりきれいに見えるような気がします。
