「Ｐｉｎｋ」という女性誌に‘９６年の創刊時から’９９年の休刊時まで連載されていた「オトナのやり方」というコラムを改題した「おじさんマインドの研究」と、「ｕｎｏ！（懐かしい！）」という雑誌に、これも‘９６年の創刊時から’９８年の休刊時まで連載されていた「女性誌探検隊」というコラムの２つが収められている。単行本も持っていたのだが、加筆があるので文庫本も購入して久しぶりに読んでみた。

「おじさん…」は著者が最初に書いている通り、「オヤジ」「オッサン」「トッツァン」と彼らが牛耳る文化やメディアを“ちょいとからかってやろう”という趣旨で書かれたコラムである。だから、おじさんは徹底的にからかわれている。現在４０歳間近のオッサンになった私は、その突っ込みの鋭さに改めてハ、ハ、ハと笑ってしまうのだが、こういった現象や事柄をからかうのは、別に彼女じゃなくともいいのになぁという不満も正直残った。

それに比べて女性誌を批評した「女性誌探検隊」は、彼女はやっぱりこれだよなぁと思える出来である。著者の本領は「妊娠小説」「文壇アイドル論」などのように書籍や作家に対して「独自」の視点でなされる批評で発揮されるのだと思う。このコラムが連載されていた当時、コラムのあまりの面白さに、取り上げられた雑誌を妻に頼んで買ってきてもらい（恥ずかしくて自分では買えない）それぞれ比較してみたことがある。

ということで、この作品の評価は「おじさんマインドの研究」が★★★、「女性誌探検隊」が★★★★★、タイトルが★★★★★、全体で★★★★、といったところか。

なお、著者には、男性誌を批評した「男性誌探訪」という著作もある。これも肩のこらない面白い作品である。

すでに休刊になった２つの女性誌に連載された辛口エッセイ集。前半は世の中年男性の生態を、後半はメジャーな女性誌の特色を辛辣に批評する。読者が同性ということもあり本音をズバリついた遠慮のない筆運びだがウィットに富み笑わせる。男性から見ればわずかに残っていた若い女性へのかすかな期待がいい意味で、ばっさり否定されむしろ心地よい。単行本は1999年。適宜な補稿もあり古さはあまり苦にならない。

ご多分に漏れず、ミナコ・サイトウだと思ってた読者の一人ですが、それでちょっとは損してるんじゃないかな、この人は。

それはおいといて、これは痛快です。
ただ、いまや廃刊・休刊となった雑誌もとりあげられているので多少時間の経過を感じさせる表現もありますが、それはしょうがないですね。

このままこのパワーでいっていただきたい。間違ってもワイドショーのコメンテーターなんかにはならないでね
