　この本の著者の小柴昌俊には人間力があると感じた。ここでいう人間力とは「考え抜く力がある。人に自分を認めさせる力がある。幸運を招く力がある。忍耐力がある。行動力がある。本気になって仕事に取り組む力がある。物事を正しく理解する力がある。」ということ。著者は他人の負の評価に負けない。自分の感情に振り回されることもない。自然の摂理に従った本当にいい生き方をしているように思う。仮にノーベル賞を受賞していなくても、幸福を自分の力で勝ち取る人生の勝ち組だっただろう。この本はそんな著者の人生の取り扱い説明書である。ほとんどの人が本の値段以上のことをこの本から学ぶことができるのではないだろうか？

　著者はニュートリノの検出に関する先駆的貢献でノーベル賞をとった物理学者です。
その肩書きおよびタイトルからは堅苦しいイメージや暑苦しい押し付けがましいイメージがありましたが一切そんなことはありませんでした。


　著者の体験および宇宙や物理学についての（難しくない）話を通して著者の想いが綴られており、ラクな気持ちで読むことができます。それでいて読み終わったあとには大変前向きになれる有益な本であると思います。


　タイトルからは哲学的な印象を受けますがそんなこともなく、ゆったりと構えたような内容です。自分の力だけに頼ってがむしゃらに本気になってがんばるのではなく、必要なときに本気になって頑張り、他人の力にも頼る。そして人とのつながりも大切にされています。




　最後に、印象に残った部分を引用させていただきます。

人生には「頑張りどころ」がある。
いやでも頑張らなければならないところにぶちあたる。言い換えれば「尻に火がついたとき」がそのときだと言える。
大事なのは「頑張りどころ」でいかに「頑張れるか」ということだ。
　　　（中略）
「やればできる」というと「世の中そう甘いものじゃないよ」と言う人もいる。でも、わたしが言いたいのは、「本気になって」やればできるということだ。
