率直に、中国人が書いたとか、芥川賞がどうとか、尾崎だからとか、そういうのはボクには気にならない。振り回されすぎなんじゃないかな、期待しすぎっていうか。

その前に読んでいた「ワンちゃん」から格段に文章力（校正）がよくなり、前作で感じた、光（眼の光、日の光など）に的を置いた、淡々と突きつけてくる文体がひたすら心地よかった。内容も著者ならではの渾身のものを感じた。日本語の用い方は独特で、唐突に胸に迫る技法だった。それで★５。

芥川賞に値するか否かについては、選考委員の方々の考えもあるでしょうし、ある意味運不運などもあり得るのでさて置くとして、小説としては大変面白く読むことができる一作でしたし、要はそれでよいのだと思います。主人公（梁浩遠、謝志強）の中国時代を描いた前半の六割部分は、表現の稚拙さ（失礼、ただ例えば涙を表現するのに「雪解け水のように」（７４頁）というのは如何なものでしょうか）がやたらと目に留まり、唸ること多でしたが、浩遠の来日後の人間模様やその内面の描写には現実感もあり、国籍を異にするとはいえ共感を覚えること大でした。次は、テレサ・テンと天安門事件の繋がりについて触れているらしい有田芳生氏の『私の家は山の向こう』（文春文庫）を読んでみようかと思っているところです。

芥川賞候補となり話題ということで読んだ。歴史的事件を背景にしながら青春の挫折を描くほろニガ青春小説、という感じで（予定調和的ではあるものの）面白く読んだが、「純文学」としてはさすがに未熟ではないかと思った（通俗小説として読んだらさらにゆるい感じがすると思うが）。文章の荒っぽさは知られる通りで割引きして読んだが、随所に日本語の問題でなくわきの甘い表現が多く、革命に身を投じる主人公の思考もなんだか幼いというか表面的で、つくりものめいた感じがする（といっても、私はそういう中国の活動家の現実の人間像を知らないのだから、これがリアルなんだといわれると黙るしかないが……）。「非母国語で」ということに関しても、リービ英雄の後ではそこまで騒ぐことかどうかよくわからない。青春期から歳をとって苦労を知って、みたいな長い時間の流れを天安門事件にからめて短い枚数で描いているので「あらすじ小説」みたいな感じがしてそこも物足りないのだが、やけに大きな時間の流れがかなりな駆け足で描かれているのが面白いと思う人もいるかもしれないとは思う。
