荻原 浩
1956(昭和31)年、埼玉県生れ。成城大学経済学部卒。広告制作会社勤務を経て、フリーのコピーライターに。’97(平成9)年『オロロ畑でつかまえて』で小説すばる新人賞を受賞しデビュー。2005年『明日の記憶』で山本周五郎賞を受賞した(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

荻原浩にしては珍しい、というより初の短編集である。

’９９年から’０４年にかけて各社の小説誌に掲載された８編に、書き下ろし１編を加えた９編からなっている。いずれもホラーのジャンルに属する短編ばかりであるが、そこには生理的に恐怖を訴えるような物語は少なくて、お馴染みの“荻原ワールド”が健在だ。

ラインナップを挙げてみる。
「お母さまのロシアのスープ」―最後の一行に向かうストーリー展開がさすが。
「コール」（書き下ろし）―私が本書で一番好きな作品。見事な叙述ホラー・ミステリー。
「押入れのちよ」（表題作）―本編こそ“萩原テイスト”にあふれた佳作。青年と幽霊との交流が、そこはかとなく哀しくもあり、ほほえましくもある。
「老猫」―これは生理的な恐怖をおぼえる、正真正銘のホラーである。
「殺意のレシピ」、「介護の鬼」、「予期せぬ訪問者」（いずれも『小説すばる』が初出）―ブラック・コメディと言うかなんと言うか、怖いんだけれども笑えてしまう作品。
「木下闇」―クラシックなスタイルの正統派ホラー。
「しんちゃんの自転車」―「押入れのちよ」と根本的には同じようなジャンルの、読み終えてほっと安心する作品。

私は、本書を読み終えて、フジテレビの、タモリが案内役をつとめる『世にも奇妙な物語』を連想した。映像化不可能な作品もあるが、テレビかラジオのドラマにでもなりそうなものばかりだった。

怪奇な出来事に、涙あり笑いありの“荻原流”怪談ホラー9篇。
これが荻原浩さんの本でなければ絶対に買いません！
もう、表紙からして、恐ろしくて、こわくて。



しかし、“荻原流”とはいえ
■超恐いのが、
・「お母さまのロシアのスープ」
・「老猫」

正反対に、
■まさしく「これぞ荻原浩！大爆笑」は、
・「押入れのちよ」
・「介護の鬼」

■名作は、
・「木下闇」
押入れのちよ (新潮文庫)

＊恐いから心して読むように！

現実と不気味さがうまく混ざっていて、とってもよいかんじ。
自分の周りにも、こういうことがありそうだから、読んでいてその不気味さを肌で感じることが出来る。
けれど、こわくても、不気味でも、それを親しくおもってしまったら平気になる。

一番初めの短編を読んで、こわーーーー！！と思ったけれど、
その後、じわじわとたまらない気持になりました。
お母様がスープのお肉を食べた時の、その、静かな、でも激しい覚悟に打たれてしまって
本を一度おいて深呼吸しなけらばいられなくなったくらい。
「押入れのちよ」の「はいなるあんさー」は、とっても可愛かった。
一番最後の短編を読んだ後は、自転車のブレーキの音を聞いたら振り返りたくなる。

自分の日常に何気なく入り込んでくる不気味なものを、受け入れることの出来る人に
なれたらいいなと思う作品。
